I just think that sometimes personal feelings intervene when maybe they shouldn't. Mikey posted, you looked to get a rise out of him and you got one, taking pleasure in hitting the ban button no doubt.
Now I'm not saying that's wrong, I'm simply putting forward an alternate view, one we can debate as this forum was always good for, not turning into an argument.
In real life Mike is a good guy, I do know him fairly well so can say that. Judging people on their forum persona is not something I do.
Rich, I think those who have posted already have covered most of the points I would have raised but I would like to add a few things - when the mods go about their unpaid job on here, we meet all types; the ones that seem to make the biggest impression on us all are those who are either idiots and / or rude.
The upshot is, we become somewhat sensitised when engaging with some of the people who visit our site.

A lot of things are said to mods that would never be said 'face to face' because the real world tends to harbour 'consequences' and this detachment from the real world creates keyboard warriors of all sorts.

We, of course understand this phenomenon and we do try to deal with people fairly but let me advise you of something here - there has been, and will be, occasions where mods overreact ... there are also cases where mods make the wrong decision when banning people but we do have a failsafe working in the background.

On many, many occasions, I've gone off on one and I've either overreacted or misinterpreted something that someone said, in which case, our failsafe kicks in ...
We have some strong personalities working as mods but we all respect each other as both a mod and as individuals.
I own this site and you'd maybe think that other mods might turn shy if they thought I was acting out of order.
You really couldn't be further from the truth - I don't know how many times Jay [Buddha], Bon or Jim has reigned me in over the years... there have been many occasions, far too many for my own good.
I have effectively been banned from this site [by my wife] hence my relative absence this past year or so and I think it's best for the site I remain firmly in the background and detached.
If Jim [Dusty] had been over-sensitive or acting out of order then there would be something going on in the Mod's forum or at the least, Jay would have been having a word with Jim behind the scenes. The content of Jay's post on this matter speaks volumes and indicates no such discussions with Jim are ongoing.

I most certainly haven't got a problem with Mikey being banned because if someone talked to me like that, I would feel and act the same as Jim but that said, Jay, Bon and the others are all completely different characters and they're able to see things outside of mine and Jim's knee-jerk responses.
Basically, we all trust each other, and trust each other's judgement, it has to be this way otherwise it all starts to fall apart but that respect for each other doesn't mean we will back anyone blindly .... this forum has been going for a long time now Rich and if there was anything fundamentally wrong with p8ntballer.com, we really wouldn't be where we are ... just take a look around the other forums Rich, they're Tumbleweed Towns.
If Jim had done wrong in banning Mikey then one of us would be telling him in some way, this is not the case and so if you wish to condemn Jim, then you condemn all of us, and maybe that's your point anyway.
Mikey indulged himself at Jim's expense .... and with that in mind, I think Jim has the right to respond accordingly.
Right, I'm gonna slink off back to hibernation unless the wife realises why I'm typing :/

Pay them a wage Pete, you tight arse. Try and use some of the money you are saving on hair products to put towards it

Aha !!!!
About 20 years ago, there was a TV program about men losing their hair and a guy from the hair industry was predicting a drug based upon dihydrotestosterone [sp?] that would return bald heads to their natural beauty .....he said, 'it would take another 10 years, 15 years at the outside' ... I have been patiently waiting and he's already 5 to 10 years overdue ... if and when it hits the market, I'll gladly pay my mods but knowing my luck, I'll be in my 80's before I get my hands on some of it which is gonna look pretty weird to say the least :(

I think I'll stay shaven-headed :)

dihydrotestosterone too much of this causes it iirc, they tried to make an inhibitor for it but it restricted testosterone and turned a load of Men into winging bitch chicks with dicks ( true to some extent I promise )

Regain apparently works very very well, but expensive about £30 a month.

still to this day we wait bro, Transplants on the other hand are €900 in Prague inc a week stay in a 5* hotel and performed by UK, French or German qualified surgeons, up it to 2K and they'll chuck in a full set of dental implants, if wanting to be prettier of course.

Harb - thanks for the heads up - when I first saw the sickening retreat of my hair-line along the lines of male-pattern baldness, I tried to offset the rot with Regain [or Rogain as it was then I think] and it had no effect.
I've heard testimonial evidence of Regain working but it seems to be very fine hair and not much of it .. and that's if you're lucky; generally speaking, I think it's throwing money away ...allegedly !

If and when someone cracks the bio-chemistry of the problem with male-patterned baldness, the rewards would be billions for obvious reasons but I think it may not be discovered by design.
Viagra was only discovered by accident because the drug itself was being used for other conditions and when some of the 80 year old patients started pole-vaulting across the nursing staff, someone said, 'there's something happening here' ..hence the birth of Viagra ..
I think the drugs to prevent male pattern baldness [or indeed treat it] will be discovered in a similar fashion - the biochemistry surrounding baldness isn't rocket science as you probably know, it's all about coming up with the right drug with the right effects but that belies the difficulties involved.
But even if they did come up with it soon, I think there will be a lot of people staying as they were .. after all, Bruce Willis made it fashionable to be shaven-headed in Die Hard and so I'm just following the fashion :)
