It should be stamped into the bottle with all the other relevant details.
I have 3 co2 tanks stamps are as follows
The bigger has written on it "tp 206 bar 06/92 BS 5045 pt.6 1987 co2 ew 580g fw 930g" at too with a separate number "208954" and at the bottom "luxfer 7920159 212 139 l" the first smaller has at top "tp 205 bar co2 ew 536g fw 746g 06.92 126/1/d" with separate number "206558" at bottom luxfer 7920154 125l BS 5045 pt.6 1987 and last 1 at top is "action pursuit centre cp 232 bar 07.90 tp 348 bar air BS 5045 pt.6 1987" with separate number "112100" and bottom luxfer 7900126 101 080 l"

Nope can't help you with that, i can tell you that "tp 206 bar" is test pressure," 06/92" will be the month and year it was made, "BS 5045 pt.6 1987" will be the standard it was made to, "co2" self explanatory that one, "ew 580g fw 930g" is your empty weight and full weight, and numbers such as "208954" will be that bottles own unique serial number, no idea what "luxfer 7920159 212 139 l" refers to other than Luxfer being a manufacturer. So no help there really, but i would say they really old bottles.

To be honest just bin them and buy new it will be cheaper. Most sites use hpa anyway it's better on your kits maintenance and if you are at a site that uses co2 use theirs.

Yes gonna take them down to fire extinguisher co2 refill station and see if they can help not that I don't understand it would be cheaper to buy new than have them tested but because there a lot smaller than most of the bottles you can buy today they fit well in the stock of my phantom and as it's a pump it dunt need as much to power it I and cos of age of marker it's geared up to work (possibly) better on co2(yes kill me for saying it)

Ok so how do I find the size of my tanks I have 3 all details are in thread http://p8ntballer-forums.com/threads/tank-testing-place.81453/
A general guide is that if the cylinder is under 2" diameter it is probably exempt

1/2 a litre is about 30ci
This makes a 13ci compact air cylinder exempt, slim co2s will probably be exempt
Co2s that are slightly smaller than a 3000psi won't be exempt

The obligation remains on you for condition
The first parts of a hydro test are looking at the cylinder outside and in
If you know the history of the cylinders (EG you have owned them from new) and the outside is good then you can be more confident
If you don't know the history, or they've been sat in a shed empty for years they may not be as good inside

The reason it's cheaper to buy new than to retest is simple. A retest is £25-35 depending on where you get it tested a new 12 oz co2 bottle is about £15.
So unless they are under the test size and your confident that they aren't ancient and corroded inside then get them refilled.
But remember that it's not just your safety but the safety of other responsible for if it fails. If I was injured because of another's inaction I would sue because no ones going to pay my mortgage if I'm off work.
