The halo too is a goodie - even has a sound operated board which can improve your chances at a clear event

I believed I broke mine at time wars the other week.
In the final game I was one of the carriers of a device, so had my dam slung over my back - I forgot I was not in mag fed only mode and thus was relying on the feed neck clamp.
Made our way to the bridge, I got hit and left my teammate to get it onto the bridge (he did)
Went back to respawn and found I was hopperless on the way, but someone had picked it up and the Marshall had it, it was full of broken paint so went back to clean up, it wouldn't switch on so changed to rip clip.
Got back in game, we did the bridge run again, I knocked off another hopper

I prepared to strip & rebuild the hopper yesterday and this is what I found:

If you can drop or bash a hopper into something so hard that you bend the battery connector off a terminal and just crack part of the shell then I think that shows the hopper in a good light!

Regarding speed of a hopper:
Allowed rofs are limited, and are fast enough.
Pretty much any gun & hopper combination be ok
If you want to be certain to get a consistent feed rate then you want a force feed (see halo above)
Also ensure your gun has a system to ensure the ball is ready (eyes etc)

The order of hoppers is:
Basic gravity
Enhanced gravity (proto primo)
Any electric (agitated)
Force feed (electric, cyclone or QLoader)

Qloaders are a bit specialist and though I own two sets, are not realy worth the effort unless you realy have the need and time to deal with it

With an a5 & cyclone you don't use any other hopper.
It's a wide 'gravity' hopper that fills the cyclone. The cyclone then uses exhaust air to force fee the paint

My only recommendation would be an x7 low profile hopper

Another option is to use an A5 with an e-grip and rotor (or another electro hopper eg halo/spire/prophecy)

That would do the job, but my point of view would be to ask why

The cyclone does its job well and the a5 is reliable.
If going this way then look for a pcs us5 which is pretty much an a5 clone with no cyclone, or a tippmann 98. Getting hold of an electric trigger to match them would be a little harder these days
Or the alternate is to go for a general electric marker

That's a fair point. You've got me there bang to rights.

It's one of those more unusual ideas to be honest that me and one of my mates have used before and did work very well. I've got a Sierra One that is running a cyclone with e-trigger and they work very well together. It has also been used with an electro hopper instead and that also works well.
A lot of the A5s that go up for sale second hand now tend to have the e-grip/trigger depending on age or response trigger installed already.
The thought behind the electro hopper is that eventually you may wish to upgrade to a new marker which is not compatable with the cyclone hoppers although they aren't that expensive and the A5 makes a good back up if your marker goes down on you. Also having a back up plan incase your cyclone does break is always nice which I have learnt the hard way in the past when it has packed up on me but that is a real rare instance.

What was your main dislike with the US5?
Internaly its effectively the same as the A5, I have 3 US5s. They are not high technology, but always work.
The good feature of the A5 (other than being hard working & reliable) is the cyclone, but if there is anything other than the feedneck & barrel thread of the US5 you didn't like then you will get the same with an A5.

Replace to the metal ratchet & it should run forever.

My X7 has been well abused, I bought it second hand, the ratchet failed soon after, Paul Banks fitted a metal one and it has run well ever since.
It has only had a full strip down by Paul Banks twice, other than that I've given it the minimum care & it has survived everything I have put it through, including Sennybridge 1 at -14c
