We did a Help For Heroes charity game last year, it had massive support from industry and players. In the end the total was nudging £13000 :)

We done many things, mainly ran a scenario game, had massive auctions and raffles, player contributions and certainly some players pulled out huge donations. I think the charity hit home with a lot of people and thats why they dug deep. So many shops, manufacturers etc donated a prize, infact I dont think there was any major player who didnt help. Its all about approaching them in the correct way. Even getting the site on board, the caterers, the paint suppliers, get a cut of everything or free to make profits as big as possible.

its costs too . .. we put on a very tech savvy big game, fully staffed and didnt charge a penny ourselves, all that time, money for propers, even fuel for 20 warriors to get from the 4 corners of the uk, it came from our pockets no the charity funds at all.

Good luck, run a game, the rest is money raising add ons.

No, that's the British Heart Foundation
;-)

What sort of thing do you want to do?
Running a new event these days is hard, there are a lot of 'events' going on in paintball and people pick & choose what ones they will play
We run some events as a team, and were pretty much spot in with timing. As individuals we were known enough in the uk community and we started our first event after the 'pioneers' of team run games and just before everyone decided they could run an event
Because people knew us, they trusted us to run an event and supported us in doing so - by putting their hand in their pockets and turning up to play

Good ways at the moment may be to speak with your local site to either run a walk-on/let you run a walkon with a fundraiser element for the charity
(Whether they have established walkons or not - you can offer to organise their first walkon)

Do contact the charity and ask about things such as gift aid, and promotions

With gift aid they get to claim the income tax to top up the donations, but it's not guaranteed. It depends on how the money is raised and if each tax paying 'giver' provides the right information on forms etc. (we went into this for a charity and if we raised proceeds from the event on ticket sales and donated then gift air did not apply as the site/event were making a corporate donation, but instead we charged a ticket price with an 'optional' extra donation so every ticket purchaser dontated, for every taxpaying donator who filled in a gift aid form the charity could then claim extra on top

Charities will often publicise details of your event on their website, newsletters etc if there is enough notice, and they may provide extra materials such as banners, collection boxes etc (t shirts, wrist bands etc may be provided by charities but won't be free but could be on a 'sale or return' basis)
They may also have volunteers etc willing to come out with a promo stand or to help out

Some companies may also help out, always think outside the box - paintballers need energy, Krispy Kreme have charity options - if you can get to a collection point (and satisfy their charity criteria) they will provide heavily discounted donuts for you to sell & donate

Birmingham/Dudley/Wolves.
Thank you both for you input and experiences. Ive done smaller charity fundraising with myself and a couple of mates doing the 3 peaks challenge for help for heroes. Later on this month im running the great Birmingham run which is half marathon for cancer research. This ones personal to myself having had my mother having had it, my girlfriends step dad been given a time and her aunty just found out shes got cervical cancer. So this is a very personal thing for me.
Sorry about bringing the convo down.

I like the ideas of Krispy Kremes. Would be a great energy boost. But I may be the doing all the donation on that one. #Noneleftforanyoneelse.
My nearest sites are Bassetts pole and warped sports. So two great sites.
I will get the ball rolling on this one probably after xmas. May I ask you and your teams for a little help organising.
