PayPal changes

I've mentioned providing a 3rd party service before for a small fee. I believe PBnation does or did it at one point with varying levels of payment ie $5 parcel gets received, contents checked and shipped on $10 marker gets switched on and trigger pulled $20 marker is fully checked with air and paint for full range of functions.

Each party splits the cost of extra shipping.

trouble is, everyone here wants it done for nothing

Well if required, I'd happily act as a 3rd party ' funds holder' if people wish to pay via bank transfers to avoid using PayPal and more importantly for a smoother/safer transaction between new sellers & buyer's

Something is definitely required along those lines if we want to have safe transactions. The trouble at the moment is the guys may not understand how little they may be covered insurance wise via PayPal. The seller is covered as long as he is open and honest with parcel force or his courier but the poor buyer does so with no cover at all from PayPal with their new rule ad with the buyer not being in contract with the delivering company they aren't covered here either.
Might be a bit of a neessh market here for a parcel company to collect markers on behalf of the buyer once a deal has been struck. Then perhaps any transit insurance is then with the purchaser ?

As far as i can read into it, the problem is non existent on the shipping side as long as you're within the UK. Outside of the UK you will have to make alternative courier arrangements.

Payments are going to be the sticking point.

So is it that PayPal aren't accepting monies at all for paintball markers ? And if you do send them you run the risk of losing your money ? The trouble for me is that without a drop down box in PayPal stating are you sending paintball markers (yes or no ) people will still send payment using this method. The down side is you are not covered for any buyer protection and you run the risk of falling foul of pay pals policy.

I agree with Dusty parcel force etc is fine as far as I can read into it as well. However if unscrupulous persons understand the PayPal flaw and the possibility of no buyer protection they are going to exploit it with I did send best raise a PayPal dispute and I will chase the parcel company type attitude with the knowledge as soon as PayPal find out all buyer protection is nul and void.
A third party scheme sounds like a really good idea for the people who want to use it.

Yes, you're absolutely right. I believe unfortunately more people are ACTIVELY looking to exploit the paypal guarantee system, this is simply one more way to do it.

Yep that makes absolute sense with the mods and any obvious long term members. I personally wouldn't have an issue with that arrangement however it may be time consuming for the guys helping out the rest if us.

It should only add an extra day or two to the process.

Each person pays their own shipping to the 3rd party, then split the cost of the service and onward shipping between them.

Say for talks sake it's a tenner for the 3rd party and a tenner for special delivery, the whole transaction costs £10 more than it would have normally for total peace of mind.

Assuming we can get Mods to volunteer to do it that is. There's little enough thanks in this job already
