Woodsball is as simple as its name - playing in the woods. Typically at a standard paintball site, usually wooded land attached to a farm.
This is the standard punter site, which may allow walkons playing general capture the flag, capture / defend an objective, elimination etc. it is played every weekend or walkons tend to be monthly. You get every kind of player at walkons, it just depends on the preferred styles of the local regulars. Usually a mix of everyone
Scenario is defined by an overriding scenario theme / storyline
The scenario could just be an overall theme for the game or could be worked into every objective. Games can be played for a shootout and gaining ground but usually have a variety of objectives. The winning side tends to be the one that finds/assembles/captures/holds the right thing at the right time
Scenarios tend to be one off annual events
Scenarios can be small or big
Ukscenario.com is more aimed to the scenario player (but you will find various types of player there)
Walkons and scenarios can be linked, EG diamond wars is a monthly walkon that has a theme and includes an annual big game. All of the diamond wars games throughout the year contribute to the final game
Tournament is a leagued sporting tournament, playing the speedball style
Most sites have a speedball field. Most have wooden/tyres/recycled stuff barricades and are on an open field. Some sites have inflatables, and if you are lucky are on a nice flat grassed field
Punter sites will use the barricaded speedball field. It's good for a starter game and for paint wasting at the end of the day
Walkons may or may not use it - depending on the players and how good it is
This forum is more aimed at the speedball player (again you will find all types of player here)
Tournament paintball is played on nice grassy fields with inflatable barricades
This is team play and can be very structured national & international tournaments or on a local basis on sites with the fields. Teams can be made up as 'scratch teams' of individuals for the day
There are other things such as a woodland tournament, indoor play (generally indoor speedball and may use rubber reballs), urban & CQB
You can get fairly strict MilSim (note scenario is not Milsim - but Milsim will have a scenario)
There are special venues, sometimes one offs like a Reading shopping centre, a factory, some are on live army training sites and are currently annual:
Swynnerton for nvs is a bit urban
Sennybridge & copehill down are much more built up and CQB.
Sennybridge in Wales has a European style village designed for the Cold War. But is still good for anything urban
Copehill down was also designed for Europe, but has had additions to tweak it for more recent middle east conflicts with fob, domestic compounds etc
Copehill down also has the odd funny looking area (EG a collection of small walls and a stairwell - these are used for demonstrating techniques. Some events are run with current or ex military instructors and can give training sessions for you to gain and use skills in the game
