The general rule of thumb is that fibre bottles are lighter than steelies and yet hold a greater amount of air (4500). On a personal level I also find that carbon fibre wrapped bottles fit my body shape better and allow me to play tighter due to their shaping. However this may just be me!

If you are looking for extreme weight loss in all of your gear you can look towards the safer bottles. These have been developed to be extremely light (possibly the lightest on the market) however the price for these commodities will reflect on the price. All carbon fibre bottles are considerably more expensive that steelies however are a good long term investment.

The general rule of thumb is that fibre bottles are lighter than equivalent steelies (a standard fibre is heavier and bulkier than a standard steelie) and yet hold a greater amount of air (only when 4500 psi fills are available)
All carbon fibre bottles are considerably more expensive that steelies (in both the long and short term) however are a good long term must be considered an investment in the ergonomic factors of a fibre
Additional features such as specific (eg LP) or adjustable regulator outputs or true ultra light cylinders come at greater expense then the average fibre

Sorry - couldn't resist a couple of tweaks

If you're after a light tank and have money to burn, I can recommend the Fuel Supra Lite tanks. Was lucky enough to pick one up second hand and it's ludicrously light compared to most 'normal' fibre wrap tanks of an equivalent size. Stuck it on the kitchen scales along with my other tanks:

Fuel Supra Lite 68cu in with Ninja Pro Reg, filled to 2000psi: weight 976g / 2lb 2oz
DXS 68cu in with Ninja UL Reg, filled to 2000psi: weight 1386g / 3lb 0oz
SCI 68cu in with CP reg, filled to 2000psi: weight 1454g 3lb 3oz
