Don't have the confidence to superman slide

Hey guys i have been trying to superman slide at home on the garden with knee + arm pads i get a fast speed go low to the ground and when im about to dive i chicken out.

Is there a way to over come this?

I find it impossible to practise - everytime I do, there's a little hesitancy. In a game, or even a practise game, with paint coming at me, then it comes together.
Felt much better when Clint Moore, at a team training day, said he found the same about slides...

Get a plastic sheet on the ground and put some fairy liquid on it, dive on to that, like when you were a kid. Don't hold your gun at first just run and dive onto the sheet, the more confident you get, bring the gun into it later on, then add the hopper! Kids have been diving like this in the summer and don't give it a second thought. The faster you run the easier it is as long as you keep the barrel up!!! punch forward as you dive down and slide onto your fore arms and elbows, that way, when the gun is in your hand, you'll not take core samples with the barrel!
Keep it simple!! Run fast and get low into the dive!

Do some warm up and stretching first, nothing worst than causing an injury which could put you off for good.
If you are a young spring chicken, when practising, slowly build up the speed.
If you are near my age, then yes, say balls to this i'm bailing out, i'm not that stupid.

In a game, i tend to just go and do it without thinking twice due to the adrenalin, then i ask to be picked up after :eek:

The minute it starts to hurt... Stop. I didn't and had a swollen forarm for 2 weeks and a torn rotator cuff in the opposite shoulder which is still healing :-(
