My friend bought this etha from new a while back now but recently we've noticed that it is slightly different from other ones we have seen online and in the flesh. I'm talking about the laser engraving towards the back of the marker in the photos.

My friend had never thought anything of it until a PE tech asked him where he had the lasering done, but he bought it new as it is.

Anyone know why this one is different, even PE adverts don't show this engraving, they are all just completely black?

I think this is just something that was put on the older (first) ethas when they come out , there's an old one at my local field and it has the engraving on the back where as my new etha doesn't

Is the engraving on just one side or is there another on the opposite side?

If i remember rightly, the first batch of Etha's, the ones used for promo and test runs, had the logo one side and 0.68 cal mark on the other. I believe the first lot of retail Etha's, like Ryan said, continued with the same engraving before being dropped for one reason or another.

maybe @Nicky T would know better?

This is simply one of a promotional run of early Etha 's. I believe at the time we anticipated that they would be used for rental purposes so wanted the name engraved on there so that new players realised what they were using ;)

Yeah the pattern is on both sides if I remember rightly, nothing says .68cal...I guess it was dropped to save themselves money??

aah fair. mostly likely dropped after people bought into them as main markers, rather than as site rentals haha
