Thanks for all your help Rob, some good information mate, looks like this will be the marker to buy :) What about Milsig Canada not now being the main distributor, Magfedpbuk said they buy from Milsig the factory. Do you think we will be ok for spare parts , service or any warranty
issues?
Go for magfedpbuk becus he is a friendly face and very easy to deal with if there's a problem.. I have heard the Canada factory has been a pain when you ask for help..
Hi there, I've been looking into magfed markers over the last few weeks and concluded the Milsig-K series to be good value for money.
Can you change the barrel out on them and if so what thread?
Also can you load with First Strikes?

Cheers Richard
Any barrel with a5 thread mate.. I have had apex barrels, carbon fibre barrels and all sorts fitted.. And not first strike but it fires paint amazingly!!!!

Do you think Mil-tac in this country will take off more then? I would hope that there is a market for it especially in woods ball

Seems to be a growing trend but I was having this discussion with Jon Owen at LIPs yesterday and he felt that it would always be niche. He's been around paintball a lot longer than me, so who am I to argue.
I think its a logical progression. When you first get into paintball after attending a punters day you either want the look, Milsim or Tourney, or the supremacy of firepower! They you realise everyone has firepower!!!
So you either become a trigger happy junky and get into Supair or grumble bitterly about ROF at your Recball site. hahahaha :D
Magfed looks like a slower paced game with a different type of control needed over supair.
I think its worth a go which is why I'm going to the Warfighters game next month to see if it lives up to my expectations.
Don't get me wrong I love my EGO but the chucking paint style of play some players adopt is getting a bit tedious. :X3: Or maybe they secretly work for Dulux?

Hate tourney players at scenario events overshooting and just laying paint down sure not all do it but most will see my point

Be nice to have a skill based game and not rof over all else

There was a third option I never mentioned... you just quit!
So, I'm just saying there is a logical progression with ballers. How long it takes is down to the individual. But its certainly evident to me that amongst some of my acquaintances there is a lean towards magfed.
How much more popular? Well 2 months ago I wasn't aware Magfed only games were an option! Which in my mind makes seems like the only way to play with magfed markers.
My Team mate ReaperUK91 will tell you I buy my markers based on their tactical firepower on a recball field, so logically the more paint you lay down the greater your chances of hitting an opponent. The odds are obviously against you if you're using magfed to my EGO9 regardless of skill.
But a Magfed only game sounds like a really interesting proposition. If not magfed then Pump which I have also seen pick up in interest in the last year.

That is true mate.. It's gunna grow and rapidly now.. Although I have played against people with tourney markers and kicked there butts.. And I find my Magfed markers to be much better accuracy than tourney.. For players who are confident with there gun I dot think playing against them is too much of a problem..

My problem with scenario games is that the style of play they encourage is the complete oppositve of paintball's original format. At the most basic level paintball should be about avoiding getting shot, while eliminating opponents and/or achieving objectives. With constant respawns, high numbers of players and high ROF this has now been mangled into the present-day situation where the balance of power on the field is shifted through volume of paint and constant mass eliminations. We now have players proudly displaying their welts as some perverse badge of honour - 20 years ago you'd have considered anyone receiving multiple hits in a game as a talentless muppet who needed to learn how to play better. :)

That's where I feel magfed comes into things (and I'm careful to say magfed - as mil-sim/mil-tac are subtly different and I personally have no desire to dress up like a member of the real armed forces), in returning the game back to its roots with the emphasis on avoiding being eliminated and accuracy.

This applies to magfed-only games, where everyone is operating on a level playing field - playing magfed against people toting hopper-fed markers is certainly possible, but isn't something I'd class as fun - horses for courses, which is why I've got a mix of guns, magfed as well as hopper fed mech and electros to choose from depending on the event.

Magfed certainly seems to have come from nowhere over the past couple of months (I'd never really paid it any attention before) and I can see it continuing to grow - although I'd agree that it's likely to always be a niche activity within the overall game.

I can see we're your coming from.. Alot of people are fed up of tourney and electronic players spraying and I think that is what has helped boost Magfed play..
Soon I recon there will be a big split were people will choose Magfed or tourney/electrnic
