No
I am looking at gettings electrics but on some threads have seen mechanical markers recommended for newbies. Is that because they are easier to maintain?
Not really, it's because anyone who's been playing a while evolves to an electros to "keep up" they break less paint & fire faster

What type of ball do you enjoy? By this I mean a walk on day with friends, a big game event, tournament series or you do not yet know?

Certain sites only allow mechanical markers for walk ons that's the only reason to buy one I can think of!?

Depending on if you like woodland/big games/tournament really makes a big difference on which marker you want.

Scenario paintball (big games etc) tend to use more military like clothing & you will notice the term "millsim" meaning military simulation referring to the design of markers (guns) as these look more realistic. For this type it's more about looking good & messing about than winning anything?

Walk ons have a mix of this type of equipment & tournament style markers.

Tournament is all lightweight super fast gear & adrenaline fuelled short matches.

All three are very different so before you splash the cash try them all

Just a clarification Milsim and scenario are two different things. You can have Milsim scenarios but scenarios are not Milsim
Scenario just means there is a storyline/theme. Milsim has strict rules as it is simulation
Camouflage is more predominate in the woods, and urban games then tournament play partly because of the Michael Ryan era. There was a disassociation with camouflage. As an issue this has dropped in the uk, but is still relevant in the us

Speedballers don't need camouflage as everyone is in sight from the onset, sponsored teams need to show their sponsorship, and if in a spectator environment want to be recognised
Woodsballers don't need all the paintball specific designs in clothing - depending on their playing style. If into diving and sliding then paintball trousers have features they need. A scenario team may also be sponsored and want to be recognisable, so the majority have a uniform and/or logo. These could be combats, paintball gear or jeans and t-shirts
Woodsballer a still may not need camouflage - especially if they are going to sprint straight forward

Regarding looking good, I would say the same for speedballers.
Speedball is about looking good & agg and winning
Scenario is about fun & socialising
That's not to say there are not speedballers out there just for fun or woodsballers who are desperate to win

On the gun front. Personal choice is the lead factor, but there is no need for a style of gun in the woods, get the one that matches you playing style and feels right for you
