Found a paintball place near me and offer great deals for walk- on players, although they have some rules on which guns you can bring.
Examples of markers which are allowed:
  • Inferno markers
  • Tippman markers including A5 with out responce or electronic triggers
  • Auto-cockers with swing tringger
  • TPX markers
  • Any pump-action or pistols
  • Electronic hoppers are allowed
Markers NOT allow unless on a designated walk on day:
  • Tournament standard marker. For example Egos, Ions
  • Other electronic markers
  • Tippman A5 with electronic or response triggers

These are the marker rules on most days, only once every month you can bring whatever.

So could someone please help me find a reasonable speedball type marker, i was thinking the tippmann gryphon or the crossover?

thanks

mate i started at a started a site like that so i went down the route of the BT4 combat nice basic marker easy to clean and maintain
also a good market to start with you can upgrade it if you want or get a second marker like i have so i got one for walk-on's and one for punter hunting ;)

My local site is similar. One walk-on a month at which you can use your electronic marker. I'd suggest a pump. There's not much more satisfying than taking people out with a single shot.

The best thing is to get to a shop or the walkons and ask other players if you can check out their markers

With the restriction for markers on non walkon days, either don't play the standard days or use site markers for those days
Most people start with a general marker and work up, keeping a few or all of them
If you're looking at electronic / speedball markers then you could skip a step and save the money you would have spent on a mechanical

Have you checked out the price differences between standard and walkon days at the site?
Your first walkon can be pretty intense so you may or may not want to at both for a while
How good a walkon is and how welcoming they are depends on the regular players. However sites don't like bad walkon players that just want to prey on new players - it's obviously not good for business

cheers for your replies. I've looked into how much it would be for non restricted walk-on days and it's the same price. I was still wondering, would a Tippmann gryphon be a good marker?, they say all Tippmann is acceptable?

What you need to think is ... If your own marker isn't going to be better / more customisable etc than their site guns (BT4 / Inferno / Tippmann ???) then there's no real point to splurge a wad of cash on your own one.

Maybe worth having a look what is around you, as a 'tournament marker' is a nicer investment in my opinion.

If you're set on this site I can wholeheartedly suggest a pump! So much fun and you can get away with half a box of paint for a days walkon!

well the point the site is making is it has to be mechanical guns only. so any electro-pneumatic gun is not allowed. I'd also recommend going for a pump, they are great fun to play with and the good thing is that they aren't like jackhammers when you shoot them compared to true mech guns like 98's, combats etc.

Rather than a BT/Tippmann personally I'd go for a GoG eNMEy. It's still a mechanical marker so you'll be fine to play with it, but it's much lighter, has a better regulator, anti-chop bolt, looks awesome and if that doesn't swing it for you it's even £1 cheaper than a Tippmann 98 ;)

By far the best gun you can get for the money IMO.
