Hi,
I've been Paintballing a few times and have decided to take the plunge and get my own gear. Just got a few questions.

I've been looking at masks and have seen this http://www.store.justpaintball.co.uk/masks-goggles/jt/jt-status-qcl-mask-olive.html is it any good. it's got a thermal lens which i've been told is a must and looks decent.

About a marker i've been looking at the GOG enemy as my local paintball site (Wildwoodz in the north of scotland) has them there is this a decent first marker or should i look at other ones. Sort of on a budget here and they've got a pack for £150 with a tank and loader.
I'm thinking of getting a small 2 load battle pack or is it def worth it to get a larger one, I don't think I shot more than 200 in a single game but would imagine i'd be shooting more on a walk on day.

Any tips on trousers and tops.
Thanks in advance for help.

From what I know dude, the ENMEY is a great starter gun. What sort of tank is it that comes with the marker? As as far as I'm aware, most centres seem to be moving away from CO2 but it might just be the ones that I play at. As for trousers and tops, they really aren't a neccesity, yeah they're nice to use and play in, but a tee and a pair of tracksuit bottoms will do the job for now.
If you're looking for a bpack, I think Proto do a few good ones that are relatively cheap and suited to new players!

Have a look around all the retailers. BZ paintball, we are paintball, lips, demon paintball etc

If you're after a complete set of gear then have a chat with some of them and you will most likely get a saving with a custom starter pack.
Unless the site you go to uses co2 only then aim for compressed air (start with a 3000psi steel/aluminium cylinder at about £30)

For a pod belt look at something with more capacity. If you still only use about 200 then you just carry less weight. When you have an electric marker you will find the paint shoots fast when you want

yet to hear anything bad about the enmey, and without actually shooting one, the design looks good to me. the price for a package with all 3 bits is probably good, but do you know what kind of hopper and tank you're getting?

Partially disagree with the point on trousers. You're out playing in the woods, and chances are that if you are getting stuck in, crawling and sliding through the woods then you'll be subjecting them and yourself to some wear and tear. paintball trousers are designed to take that punishment and will also offer a bit more protection from sticks and rocks stabbing your legs/knees than a pair of tracksuit bottoms will. not to mention they are usually designed to be non restrictive and will have some form of venting to keep you cool and swab pockets to let you carry them and find them exactly where you need them.

depending on your style of play, you'll generally want to invest in a 3+ or 4+ pod pack (140 pod size) with a double belt system of some sort. these are the standard used by most players because they allow you to carry all the paint you'll need and will keep it comfortable and in place.

for a mask so long as its comfortable on your face and has a thermal lense then it'll be a worthwhile investment to get you going.

Thanks for the replies

The hopper is just a basic gravity feed, they are throwing it in free with the gun.
Yeah it's a 3000psi cylinder so i'm ok there, would't have even considered using co2 really.
will look for a pack that holds 4 then.
Really stoked to start playing more when i get all this stuff.

if you're just looking to get out and have a bit of fun at walk ons and such then just get kit to match your budget and use the rest to get out there and play.

I'm also planning on getting some knee pads to try and avoid some injuries diving to the ground.
Depending on how much crawling and diving you plan on take this into account for your choice of kneepad

The typical strap on kneepad that just covers the knee is only of use when kneeling down, for crawling and diving the long paintball type that slide onto you leg are more likely to stay in place

Also consider elbow pads. A couple of years back I developed a bursa on my elbow
It seemed like just a graze but quickly became a nasty infected beast
Start as you mean to go on and protect your knees and elbows

Enmey is a great starter gun. Light, cheap, simple and you won't feel horrendously outgunned even against people running ramping electronic markers. You'll still probably want to upgrade at some point, but it's also something that's good enough to want to keep long term as a loan/backup/fun gun, rather than all the cheap blowback semis which you'll want to fling in a skip ;)

Never had much luck with kneepads myself, always found them hot, uncomfy and they always seem to move when you need them most. Playing pants with inbuilt padding are a nicer solution IMO.
