When I 1st played paintball when I was 15, I used to enjoy telling people about paintball.

Now that I'm 28, I usually tell them I snowboard instead so I don't have to explain what paintball is, not to mention to describe what a sup air ball field is, Christ.

Im sure you all can relate, would be amusing to hear some more generic response's from your own experiences. So post up! :)

Pebble.
"do they have sniper paintball guns? that'd be wicked"

But no, I'm with you, I used to enjoy explaining it, now I tell people I'm a stunt pilot

The HK army videos are doing a lot to make paintball 'cool' outside of the sport, it must be said.
sad to say but I don't think anyone in this country outside off the sport really cares

we are all geeks and nerds in most people eyes

"your allowed headshots? the stag do I went to head shots where illegal"

after explaining mugging. "I thought you had to be at least 10 meters away"

"But its so expensive.. why bother doing that" Then you have to proceed to explain how you buy boxes of paint at reasonableish prices and the usual "Isnt that just for kids and stag do's". Like everyone else i simply stopped trying to explain my sport and what i love to do to other people

i got a new job recently and after being offered the job, the interviewer asks "will you be needing any time off in the near future? Or any consistent time off?" i then had to proceed to say that i play tournament paintball and need the occasional weekend off. The look=priceless.
But i agree, its now easier to not explain it, just to say you play a different sport.

Similar story... Did an interview for a role, got it. Started the Monday after a Sunday training session where I'd taken a few hits to forehead and neck from a mugging. It took my new manager and colleagues a few hours to ask what had happened over the weekend...
