Right, so the story goes....

I bought an R7 Replay from the lovely guys at BZ just over a month ago and fitted it to my Axe and it was just delightful. Great footage, low profile and just easy to use. I have since sold my Axe and gotten an Ego 11 instead and to my dismay the original mount for the R7 doesn't fit the Eclipse feednecks!

I tried a few different ways but it just wasn't going on there however I tried so I gave BZ a call and they said that Eclipse feednecks have their own unique mount and that this simple piece of metal construction would cost me £50??!!

Now I know that paintball is an extraordinarily expensive hobby and that everyone rinses you dry whenever you want to make something work but £50 for this simple ring of metal is just outrageous! £50 just to make something fit that it no less that 2 months old!

So I guess this post is a kind of rant/warning/plea for help.

Firstly I would like to warn you that while other cameras, such as the much cheaper plasma cams, are universal. R7 will absolutely rape you every time you get a new marker.

Secondly I'm calling out for anyone who has managed to make a standard mount fit? Bz suggested that I put it on my hopper feedneck, however the ring is too wide for the z2 feedneck even at it's tightest.

So basically I'm stuck with a £215 camera that I can only use when I fork out yet another £50!

I appreciate that it's a pain when you buy a high end product like this but you need to understand that the R7 mount is a very specialised piece of kit. would i want to pay that personally? probably not. If it bothers you then just tape it on to your barrel like most people with eclipse guns are doing.

Bad luck dude, my sympathies. The R7 Replay is a repackaged Replay XD camera. It seems the mount is the part that makes the 'R7' version special, so that's what they rip you off blind for if you want to buy one on it's own.

Personally I prefer seeing goggle/head camera footage. Barrel cam stuff is cool occasionally but so much of what's recorded is looking at the ground. Might be worth trying that option? Alternatively sell it on and buy an alternative, should be able to get a very good price as action cameras are very trendy at the moment

I completely get that it's a specialist piece of kit, that's why I bought it in the first place. I just didn't think I would have my pants pulled down if I fancied upgrading my marker o_O

I guess that taping it is one option but it peeves me to know that I have a standard mount here that I essentially paid a lot of money for when buying the camera and instead of being able to use that I have to use tape. I might have to learn to use a grinder and see what I can come up with....

Yeah it came with a tonne of mounts so I could try one on the old mask but we all strive to keep the lowest profile we possibly can which is why the r7 appealed and find that it's awesome footage of the paint leaving the barrel and following the rope to the bunker in tournament (if that makes any sense) plus my guns never down in tourneys... But again, it is an option so thank you :)

I'll give it a go but BZ weren't too keen on that option (I was a bit cheeky and asked) and they're the UK distributor so probably a dead end. Thanks for your time though, it's always worth dropping an email!
There's no harm in asking. Sure BZ are the UK distributor but ultimately you bought R7's product for a solid chunk of cash and you aren't a happy customer so it's only fair that you at least raise your grievance with them directly. Is it the whole mount you need or just the ring that goes round the feedneck? It might be possible to buy that bit on it's own.

Bz suggested that I put it on my hopper feedneck, however the ring is too wide for the z2 feedneck even at it's tightest.
What about putting layers of foam between the ring and the loader feedneck to pad it out?

Great minds and all that, I'm cutting up foam as we speak haha Just feels like such a bodge job!

Was he there? daymmm. But then I probably wouldn't want to interrupt his weekend about a petty grievance. I'll drop them an Email :) Thanks for your help buddy!

Might have to go through a few revisions of the bodge before you get it looking neat and tidy. Try different thicknesses of foam and such. I've seen a fair few professional camera, lighting and sound setups and the liberal application of foam is common.

Let us know how you get on with both the bodge and getting any love from R7 . I'm mooching the idea of buying a camera at the moment, kinda fancying a Contour as they're much cheaper and I found a very neat way of mounting them to Grills
