Best aftermarket reg, bottle testing questions & bottle comparison required.

I have been out of paintball for around 4/5 years and I am starting up again. I have 2 x bottles, a dye throttle (fin 11/2019) and a crossfire (fin 06/2019). Both bottles are free from scratches/cracks but are out of test.

The problem I have is that the crossfire has been dropped on its reg near the o ring on top causing it to bend and slightly leak when attached to my ASA. The bottle itself Still maintains pressure as it has 1.5k still left in it.

The throttle just leaks out of a small hole on the side of the reg and does not maintain pressure.

Obviously I am trying to figure out the best cheapest solution to get the bottles up and running. I don't want to fork out on 2 x regulators for either bottle to then fail. so..

• Can I send my bottles off for testing without any regulators attached?
• What are the best regulators out there? I like the look of the ninja pro tank regulator but myth and dye also come to mind.
• The only other option is to buy a new tank and sod the rest off. I love my throttle over my crossfire but I cannot find anywhere in the UK that has one in stock. Can any one recommend/have an experience with another make of bottle with the same feel, balance etc. Gi Sportz?

I don't have any experience with a crossfire reg but is it possible to unscrew the bonnet from the rest of the regulator? if so you could see about finding a new bonnet but if not you'll be needing a new one since its such a finnicky job trying to bend it back that it probably won't ever be the same.

Yes you can send tanks without regs to get tested, since its only the structural strength of the bottles that gets tested, they don't touch the regulators.

Yeah the ninja pro is probably all round the best at the moment because they are so simple to configure. I'd say its closely followed by the myth G2. but to be completely honest the only reason i think these 2 stand out is because you can adjust the orientation of the gauge and fill nipple to suit your ASA. other than that all modern regs perform evenly and beyond that it all comes down to personal preference on how long or short you like them.

If the bottles pass their test fine and you are happy using it then its going to be a lot cheaper to buy a new reg than a tank and reg prebuilt.

Ninja regs, the best by far.

AFAIK early Dye bottles were made by Luxfer, later versions by Inocom.
Inocom are lovely short bottles and often re-branded as Smartparts, DXS and CP to name a few.

Fuel are the new kids on the block and appear light and short but I've no experience of these apart from having a look at them when BZ have been to events.

G2 regs are very short, often too short for some markers as when they screw into the ASA the gauge can foul the rear of the marker or not clear at all meaning the ASA has to made moved backwards to accommodate it.
Personally don't like Guerilla regs and have a few new Ninja pro regs now

forgot about this point on the length of myth regs actually. They are the best if you like that sort of thing. I use a myth reg on my geo which fits absolutely fine but i did need to fit the small ASA extender to my luxe to use it on that.

Yep don't fit the Luxe or Angel with an extender or drop attached
