I have a gopro 3 silver and it works pretty well mounted under the barrel.
I agree it's kinda bulky, but the pictures and video are nice.

Do you find that the wide viewing angle makes it hard to see far away? Forgive me if the viewing angle on the new one has changed or is now adjustable as I havent seen the specs for the 3.

For speedball / close(er) woodsball, I have not had any issues.
If you try and do longballing on a large field, it tends to not work as well for closeups. I haven't had it long so I do not know all of the settings and how to "tune" it yet.
