Hi guys I'm looking for a pod pack that is easy to refill while on the field. I have in the past tried a few different brands and never really found them that easy to pop the used pods back into whilst playing.

At the moment I'm using a tactical vest with the pods on the front, but find that setup a little too bulky.

The ideal pack would hold a minimum of 6 pods (usually locklids), be easy to refit the pods one handed whilst playing, fit round a 40inch waist and not cost the earth.

Also been looking at the PE camo drop bag setup if anyone has had any joy with that or anything similar.

Any advice would be very helpful as it gets a little tiresome finding that big tree in the woods after every game. :)

Lots of newer packs are designed to compress when you have took the pods out.... making your pack a lower profile from being potential shot across field.

On a Tourney field you can go and retrieve them when the game has finished.... (unless pods fairies have been on first and claimed them as their own....) so not so much of an issue.

However this doesn't help with putting your pods back in when you are on the move or in trees such as woodball... some of the 'Old School Packs' like a Elicpse 'Jacko' Pack used to keep its shape and made it easy to put you pods back in.... there may be other older makes that do a similar job and you can get them cheap. ;)

http://www.store.justpaintball.co.uk/battle-packs/proto-fighter-harness-battle-pack.html i use this pack the velcros are very easy to put the pods back in the velcro that goes round your waist 2 bits on each side so nice and big and tight also doesnt cost too much and the rubber holes under the elastic bits i use to pull down push the pod up perfect another thing is when your playing woodsball put your podpack over your top and just drop the pods down the top and your podpack will stop them falling out:)

Some woodsball players play with the pod back reversed. In other words the pods are in front of them.

It does make taking them in and out so much easier. You need to be quite tall to do this tho, otherwise when your crouch the pod pack will get in the way of your knees.

I've used a JT slam pack for a number of years. The horizontal layout makes it easier to get the pods in/out of on the move, and they are just held in place by grip of the elasicated neoprene material = no pouch straps to fiddle with. Downside is they only hold 4 x 150 round pods, so I was often running out of paint on longer games. Also as far as I know these JT packs are no longer made, so you can't buy new. I do have a spare I might be prepared to flog for the right price though ;)

I've also recently bought a Tippman 4+5 vertical pack. Bit of a gamble because I wasn't sure if I could manage the drop out pod layout again. I used it last Sunday and it's actually a pretty good pack. It's really comfortable to wear loaded - I was running 6 pots, and pouches are reasonably easy to access in play. The only ones I still fumble with are the centre two, but that may improve with more practice. I just don't bend as easily as I used too now... old git that I am :(

I think the JT pack would be too small, I'm not a paintballer who is known to be a light user in the paint department, but the Tippmann looks like a good design. Are the plain loops quite grippy as previous packs have had problems where full pods have dropped out.

Like yourself I'm an old git too and just want something thats easy to use :D

Thanks Gee Tee, bought a Tippmann pack today, fitted very well, very comfortable, worm all day with ease, no slipping and pods pretty easy to pop back in without having to take the pack off, :D

the best speedball style harness you can get which lets you put pods back in easily whilst wearing it is the empire liquid hinge pack. by taking off one velcro band, the pack swings around to let you reload it without actually taking it off.

Other than that, as suggested you can use a drop bag attached to a vest of some sort. As a tourney player, i don't own any kit like this but on the rare occasion i venture in to the woods, my nxe elevation pack is easy enough to slide pods back in to even in the middle of games.
