do you have a picture? are the wires completely torn?

How angels work is the rammer is connected to the bolt, the rammer moves forward when fired and the exhaust valve opens, it's then pushed back by the springed part of the exhaust valve, which then closes again.
If the bolt is forward which means the rammer is forward and the exhaust valve is open then you will get the leak.

So a possible reason for the leak is the exhaust valve isnt pushing the rammer back?

yeah page 18+19 are double spread, the rammer hits the exhaust valve which opens to let air through to the bolt, then the springed part in the front cap then pushes back to close the exhaust valve off
