It doesnt. I didnt say it did. Why do we need to? And why do I need you to tell me what to do?

We dont aim to ban anyone. Ive already said that if a ban is necessary for that particular case, then we will use it. Its very rare that we do.

The rule in question was written to protect the new user from being sold a bunch of crap by PM, also it allows us to see what has gone on if it is on a thread and maybe HELP out if a deal goes sour. I fail to see where we are the bad guys.

BTW, we reserve the right to ban anyone. If you are banned. Normally its a temporary ban. It lasts a few days at best. Ive underlined "temporary" for you. i.e its not the end of the world really is it?

I didnt get mad either. I get PMs from teenagers who know everything on a daily basis. We regularly get threats of many colourful variety. Please dont think you are a special case.
You think what i said was a threat??? Please lol

As i said i have managed a much larger site than this and with people with attitude.
And daily i had to deal with people who asked why they were banned etc

So to save hassle and help the users, if you state the rules and consequences then they know and cant argue.

I.E, if in the rules you state 'Any offers via PM will result in a warning leading towards a 3 day/temporary ban, these rules are set into place to protect sellers yada yada yada'

Straight away i know what i cant do and what happends if i dont abide by it and why you placed the rules.Much simpler and saves the user having to come to another thread i.e this one, just to find out they'll be banned for PM'ing an offer

Nope. Didnt say that. You made that up and ignored everything else I wrote.

The rules are there, in writing. We decide the consequences.

Ninjauk, your attitude is swiftly beginning to irk me.

You've been around long enough to know the score on this forum, you're free to not visit, no one is twisting your arm to be here however remember the use of this forum is a privilege not a right. A privilege we can revoke at any time.

I havnt said 'i' dont know the score, im saying in general for other users, somethings need to be made clearer for plainer sailing
Like i said, how would i know (or another user for that matter) that ide get banned for PM'ing a offer to a seller when it DOESNT state in the rules for that section the consequences if i do so?
Its not a personal dig, im saying this from experience from when i managed a website. So when i banned or suspended a member i could always say 'He was banned for posting porn, Rule #11. Posting any form of porn will result in an instant ban'

Just makes life easy because then you dont get people saying, 'you didnt say anywhere that you get banned if you post porn'

Trust me ive had it

sorry but why do you think rules would ever exist anywhere in the world if there was no consequences for breaking them? that's like saying everybody should know how you are going to be sentenced if you break the law. also in law just as it is here, the consequence depends on the gravity of what has been done. Don't break the rules and you don't need to face the consequences :)

Correct, it doent state the consequences. The consequences are irrelevant.

Correct, posting porn will get you banned. Thats pretty obvious. This is not as clear cut as posting porn though. No-one gets banned for doing a deal by PM once. If you do get a ban, it will be a TEMPORARY ban lasting a few days at most (am I repeating myself?) so no, I am not going to add what possible consequences could arise from millions of different variables and situations that could happen on any given day in this truly unique world we live in, with all these truly "unique" people we have.

You being one of them Sean.

Dealing by pm cannot be policed. What we have made more than clear more than often enough is that if a deal goes sour that the mods will NOT offer assistance.

And your attitude still stinks by the way. I don't give two boots that you managed a website, woop de do.

I've never seen this being an issue before (unless they were banned and unable to make it an issue). I thought the first post was more toward people creating an account to striaght away pm people trying to SELL them their stuff, not some regular pm'ing an offer to buy something off the fs section.......

Yes, Bullseye in one ;)
I was going to post up earlier, but work got in the way :)

Some respected members recently have reported there inbox getting spam from certain members/accounts.
These messages consist of eg "Marker for sale, bla bla bla !! "
Now these respected members have shown no interest in buying any items , nor wish to do so on the forums at the present time these messages were sent to them.
That to me is spam, no different from those commercial spam, annoying to the members of the forums. If this is not stopped, many members could start receiving 10 spams a day from 10 people wanting to sell there items, see where im getting at ?

This actually worries me for those who are new members, whom have no kit, and as we all know, being new to a sport can be daunting, having no knowledge of what gear to buy, and then ...BAM...!!!! They get SPAM....!!!
These new members could be easy targets. get ripped off, and probably leave the sport before they even started....
