10/32 is the size for the xmag's main body yes (front field strip screw) but also need one doing for the battery pack housing too but un-sure on that one buddy.

instead of selling up I'm going to put some love back into the old girl and am thinking full anno job but would the anno process 'eat' at the heilicoil insert or is it best tapping one in after the anno process???

Everything that isn't Aluminum has to be removed before ano.

yes as RST said steel tends to burn big holes in ally if u leave any in,
you can tap it before anno just insert helicoil afterwards

i made that mistake years ago on a shocker body i missed out one of the tiny grub screws on the bottom it left abot a 3.5mm hole luckily i managed to re-tap it and stick a m4 grub in there..
