The Government is asking for ideas for e-petitions which, if they gather enough votes, MIGHT be voted on in parliament.

What would you propose that would help shape Britain in the future?
Corrected your quote there
E-petitions are a great idea to keep the peasants out of downing street with reams of paper petitions and getting seen on tv
E-petitions can be happily ignored by all while making people think they are achieving something

Accepted Tom, I'm trying to be positive and believe this sham of a government could actually react to public opinion rather than back track on pledges and feather the nests of their own...

It's still a bit of a sham tbh. All it means is that it has to be voted on in parliament, meaning a little bit of time given over to the issue.

If the politicians were interested in the issue then someone would likely put it up anyway.

If they don't want to listen then they simply vote No, whilst having given us all some vision of having any kind of say.

Maybe I'm being Mr Cynical today....LOL.

The good old fashioned way is that we vote for someone locally, then no matter what party gets a majority our representative is available for every constituent to knock on the door of their office and raise our issue. Then it does not matter if you are one person or 100000
It's important to you, it may get taken up by you MP

With epetitions anyone can bring up anything. Knee jerk reactions with political publicity will get the attention of MPs. If its a bandwagon they want to jump on then they will roll with it

There is nothing there to show disagreement with something. You either have to start a contradictory petition or wait until the debate / hope it dies a death and gets forgotten
