Trilogy Pump Question

Right Im new to all this pump stuff but I fancy having a go so i picked up a trilogy sport and pump kit which installed very easily - atleast it appears to have installed very easily.

Put my bottle on and no leaks :first: so far so good, but my question is after you use the pump to **** the marker and load a ball into the breach how far forward does the bolt sit before its fired?

Mine seems to be pushing the ball forward into the barrel and the bolt sits in the breach directly below the feed neck, unfortunately i havent got any paint to test fire to see if its working properly and only a few reballs to play with which keep rolling out.

so it doesnt **** the bolt back into the body flush with the back of the feedneck like other markers?

If thats the case how does it propel the ball? To me it doesnt look like the bolt will push any further forward to hit the ball?

Pump markers operate by a bolt forward design, in which the ball is already loaded into the barrel at the beginning of the firing cycle. That's why you'll find barrels with inbuilt O-ring detents for pump markers to prevent roll-outs. Usually bore matching, underboring or the tape/nail varnish mods are good enough, though.


If my understanding is correct, open bolt designs (where the bolt is back when not cycling) came after, during the evolution of semi auto markers.

Yep most pumps are closed bolt with a few exeptions.. one being my pump Automag

I've seen a few DIY conversions on electro S/A's to pump which also fire from open bolt

Thanks for the response, thats put my mind at ease, just seemed a bit odd when I cocked it after installing the kit.

Anyone got any links to pump barrels with detents or is it easier to mod my existing barrel?

match the size of barrel to the ball, put a ball in and see if it rolls out if it does its to big, once you've found one it doesn't roll out of ideally you should be able to blow the ball out but don't worry if you can't, underboring isn't a huge problem.

ah Mr Fodder that seems to be the same answer thats posted across the net but i dont fancy forking out for another barrel kit as my lucky kit is limited to 3 bores but i do have several cocker barrels lying around which are available to be modded.

Just do the tape mod, easy as and works a treat All you have to do it get a bit of sellotape (or electrical tape), and stick two tiny squares inside the opening of the barrel, where the ball sits. Just enough so that it narrows the bore of the barrel enough to gently lodge it in place.

I use it on my trracer, and haven't had a rollout since.

Or you could try the comedy "carry on paintballing" answer and leave your balls out to swell for a bit first before playing with them!
