I have a gun and bottle that I need to send to the States.
I have three questions;

1. Who would be the best courier to use for cost and tracking the item?

2. Bottle currently has no air in it but for couriering purposes do I need to remove the valve from the bottle, or is it okay to send as is?

3. Do I need to put a note on the outside of the box saying its a paintball gun so customs dont panic if it goes through an x-ray machine?

Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
Justin

I have sent a couple of things to the US and just used the royal mail with no issue's.
Last thing i sent was a AGD 6 pak (about 1.1kg) which cost me £20 tracked and insured to the buyer's door.

Royal mail "Airsure" is tracked and insured up to 2KG and costs about £30.

Above 2Kg will be Parcel Force and cost £70ish.

Bare in mind, if the bottle is not DOT tested - it's no good in the states.

In the past I've marked up packages as "Paintball Marker" and had no problem, but just lately ALL packages have been X-rayed for security and anything resembling a gun will not be allowed on the plane.

One I sent late last year was sent by boat and took 8 weeks to get there.

Justin,

As WihGlah said about the DOT thing he's right. Depending on how well they check the dates on the bottle its hit and miss, most fields probably won't know the difference. Definitely unscrew the valve.

And I would also put "Paintball Marker" on the package.

No clue who to send it with, but should send by air.

Thank you Gentlemen,

I am concerned as I don't want to send the gun whole and have it stopped and destoyed by US Customs as LiPS have been telling me is likely to happen.

They have advised to strip it down and send different lots on different days so that it doesn't look like a gun, which I can understand, but a grip frame only looks like what it is!
I'm just being cautious as I don't want the finger being pointed if he gets all the parts except the essential one, the grip frame.

Comments gratefully received.
