The Church of England isn't likely to invite a bunch of heretics to witness it's finest hour for the past 20 years....
They were. Head rabbi, Top Catholic bloke and an Orthodox Bishop were all there among others in the inner sanctum of the cathedral. That's just the ones I saw.

missy did notice that not all faiths were represented in the abbey also:D
by this i mean the heads of said religions (jewish, catholic, etc etc )
You must of been watching some thing else cause i saw them.

people just need to get over it, its the British way, you can say it has cost the tax payers millions but they have brought back twice that in tourism alone.

We have a deep heritage thats why people love coming here to see it.

If that is true, then its not all gone to waste. Not everyone is into this Monarchy stuff, but if its like an investment, then all is good. I have probably paid more tax over the years than most here, and no, its not bragging rights here, i would better seen the revenue go help families, hospitals etc

Seems to me we either have a lot of people living over here who don't give a sh!t about what it means to be British or those self-same people feel excluded in some way and hence the no-show ..... the liberal, limp-wristed, idealists will no doubt suggest it's the latter putting the blame fairly and squarely upon the very shoulders of those people who did turn out or at least upon the shoulders of who that demographic represent.

There is no way the latter reason would stand up because I couldn't think of a more accommodating crowd and there is absolutely no foundation whatsoever for feeling excluded in any way .. it's brought up by people looking for excuses to deflect away from 'British' people exhibiting anti-British feelings or at the very least abject indifference.

The truth of the matter is the former, a lot of people over here really don't give two fuhks about our nation or what it stands for and therefore couldn't be arsed ..... that's the real truth and it's a truth that sniveling scrotum david cameron had to finally concede after everybody else in this country realising it for the past 20 or so years .. multi-culturalism does not work ... it never has and never will ... 'tis the nature of people to want to be with their own kind.

The problem now is, putting the genie back into the bottle .. there is no political will to do it and because they have allowed far too many people in, both legally and illegally, the numbers have swelled to a point where their political voice has gained a significant say.

Irony is, you won't see what I'm saying in any newspaper or TV news item, and we all know why ... can't upset people now can we ..?

Robbo i would disagree that multiculturalism doesn't work, people can socialise with whoever they want but at the end of the day alot of the music and culture we have in britain is from outside influences and i personally feel lucky to have that rounded up bringing where i can be exposed to different ways of thinking etc etc. David Cameron is just playing out to the right, him saying that multiculturalism doesn't work couldn't have come at a worse time as it legitimises groups such as the EDL which have become massive in the last year.

Sab, if you think you can define multiculturalism in terms of our British people liking someone else's music then you are on extremely think ice mate, it's an argument that cannot be upheld in any way.

As for you adding, we 'share' their culture, what do ya mean?
The fact our young people like to talk emulating another culture because they think it makes them look cool or tough?
Once again this is not grounds for suggesting multiculturalism is alive and well and resident in the UK.

Multiculturalism is best described as the assimilation of cultures into the indigenous population's own culture .... this also means all peoples are even distributed geographically speaking or at least an approximation to it.

What we actually find is not assimilation at all, all people prefer to be with their own kind, it's natural to do want to do so .... Just because you have a friend that's from a foreign culture is not multiculturalism at all, it's not representative of the whole.
You are selecting meaningless examples of what you think is multiculturalism but in fact are just examples of social interaction of some kind, nothing else.

As for cameron?
Writing off his statement as an accommodation to the right is just sweeping the issue under the carpet for the purposes of substantiating an untenable argument .. I hate cameron, I really do, I detest what the man stands for but the only reason he stated multiculturalism isn't working is because ... it isn't ....... he may have told that truth for political reasons in terms of assuaging the right but nevertheless it's still a true statement.

Until the differing cultures in our country exhibit true assimilation there cannot be one person who can genuinely say it's working and if you want proof of it ... put aside your political prejudice and liberal ideals and do as I suggest in my first post ... go look at the crowds at the wedding yesterday ...... if what you are saying is true, we would see a crowd of people who represent our country's different demographics and ya know what Sab, we don't mate ... and there ain't no way you can tell me multiculturalism in this country is working ... it's an ideal propagated by people who either cannot see the truth in front of them for some reason or they have a political agenda that prevents them from facing up to the facts of the matter .. either way, multicultuaralism ain't and has never worked.. and actually never will.
