Hi All

How are you?

I had a little idea whilst reading up on markers and accuracy etc.

How about a series of games based on skill and marker set up, rather than a straight out "shoot em up".

I was thinking of things that would challenge a player and his equipment in a similar style to competition shooting.

So perhaps challenges like accuracy over distance, "laning" (shooting a lane with targets)

just a couple of game ideas but the end aim would be to have a competition whereby a markers performance is tested aswell as the players without players feeling out gunned on the field (as each challenge would have limits ie egos, vanguards etc could all be individual comps on their own.)

what do you folks think? I'm just on my way out so if i think of more whilst i'm out or even a clearer way of expalining what i trying to say i'll put it up later.

opinions please?

I think the whole idea of accuracy is an interesting one because a lot of it is borne out of the confidence the user has in his chosen marker ... it's certainly not impossible for someone with a 100 dollar marker can out-shoot another player with a high end gun ... it's not unheard of but to understand why that happens is where my interest would lie ...

As for having a game where this type of skill is tested and competed is a good one but I'm afraid the powers that be in paintball are not exactly bedfellows with 'good ideas', they tend to ignore them in favour of their own ideas that prefer shoving as much money in the bank as is humaly impossible and in some cases, inhumanly possible; and so whilst a good idea Alex, I wish it could gain some traction but fear it will just slide mate.
PS Hope mum and sis are all doing good !!!

All over it Craig!

Rat - if you email me what your thoughts are, I'll see if they are doable - from an initial look at the idea, I can't see any reason why it wouldn't be possible to add such an activity to a Big Game weekend.

Sure, it'd cost a bit of cash to staff it, build the infrastructure and it'd take a bit more effort to add into already busy event weekends, but if that's the sort of things that customers (many organisers forget that players are actually customers - there to be served) would want - then I'll do it. Could even try to bring it in as early as Super6/4 The Tippmann Challenge in August. If enough players post up that this is the sort of new idea and activity that they'd like to see at events - then I'll make it happen at my events.

I can't see why it would need to cost the players anything either and I'm sure I could come up with some sexy prizes for the winners.

Good idea mate.

It may also have the fringe benefit of proving to Robbo that not all event organisers are cut from the same cloth ;-)

If set up at a event running regular tournament paintball I don't see why not.. It could even draw some new people into try if the markers where sorted out by the arranging party.

Reading that makes me think of the police combat training competition in Magnum Force - mock buildings with pop-up hostile/friendly targets with points for speed and accuracy.
