Yesterday Saturday 9th April 2011 at York paintball centre a Guinness world record was set for firing a paintball the longest distance. Mr Andy Turner from NPF fired a Dark Sports (dark blast premium grade) paintball supplied by LIPS. 72.2 meters through a 60x60cm target using an Angel Fly SE chrono'd at 265fps

I think I'll go bag myself a world record tomorrow and go shoot my Ego Prime at 300 fps ....

As it happens no Ego's could hit the target. The only markers to actually hit the target were a phenom with an apex barrel, Tiberius 9.1 with first strike (3 times) and of course the wining marker an Angel fly SE

Then this will probably be the most accurate marker in the world..

Really, then can I respectfully suggest you not use David Blunkett for your Ego testing ....

what are the rules for this record? I assume there's a limit on velocity and have to hit a target a certain size otherwise I'm sticking some paintballs in the freezer and cranking a marker up as high as it will go and bagging myself a world record!

Nearly any marker can do it, just need to train a bit for this kind of range .....

Anyone could have a go, many different markers were used (although they have to be factory markers and paintballs), ten shots per player. Limit was a witnessed 300 FPS, video taped. Target was a 60cm x 60cm paper target, the paintball had to break the paper to count as a hit.

Anyone who wants to have a go can have a go at any of the Super 6 events (although I would imagine you have to buy a ticket), they will be attempting the record at every game. Why don't you come down and have a go Robbo?

I'm pretty sure they're the facts, although as i am not an organiser I am happy to be corrected.

To be honest it's all a bit of harmless fun and shouldn't be taken too seriously. However it is an Official Guinness World Record. At the moment.
