Hi all,

I'm new to this site, it was recommened to me this weekend by a marshall. I have been playing paintball for about 2 years as an amateur at scenario locations and can't get enough.

I now want to start buying my own equipment and want some start up advice and recommendations please? I think I will keep to the lower end of the budgets for now.

Thanks.

Check out the sticky which talks about being new to paintball and getting your own kit. It has some pretty good advice.

I'm not really too sharp with the budget stuff, but the classifieds section often has nice, cheap kit popping up.

Other than that, try before you buy if possible. Other players are often willing to let you have a go with their kit :)

Yeah cheers I read the sticky earlier but it seems more of a general idea thing. I wanted more personal opinions on a starter maker/packagae and roughly what it would cost to get off the ground so to speak?

Well, what do you want it for? Scenario? Woodsball? Sup-air?

What is your actual budget?

What gear have you tried and liked?

Got your eyes on anything in particular? IE: Do you prefer i4 masks to e-vents if you've tried them?

ok to start what sort of budget are you looking at? that way we can all point you in the right direction. And just to make it clear you want to go woodsball route? but if your not sure on what sort of budget your looking at have a look at the for sales on here and also on lips and just paintball, for price and gear ideas to what you want.

Yeah Im looking at woodsball/scenario route as I enjoy the themed games. The only markers I have used and tried so far ar the bt4 combat and the spyder pilot. As for masks I haven't tried any variations yet (just used rentals at the sites I've played at) but I have a medium/large head so want something with good protection and something that wont mist up very quick.

Seen as Im starting out I would prefer to keep inside the £200 mark.

Sorry for not been clear earlier.

The first thing to look at is your gogs. You want something that is comfortable (you could be in them all day) easy to maintain and clean, and within your budget you could pay up to £80 new have a look around first and try some on.

Keep in mind he needs everything under that £200.

Goggles: For a M-L head (like mine) I fell in love with Empire Events. They pop up often on the classifieds for £30.

If you're interested in a Spyder MR-1 my friend has one, and you can have that for £65. I'll need to drive down to his to get it and take photos, so if that interests you then I'll go and do that tomorrow.

Hopper: Again, classifieds. Should be able to get a nice and cheap Empire loader.

That should do you for the basics. If you have some cash left over then you may want to look at some of your own playing clothes, since paintball pants and a nice baggy jersey are pretty cheap to pick up on here and feel 100x better than those constricting site-rented camos.

Yes I would be interested in the Spyder MR1, that was 1 of 3 markers I have done a little research on and it has been good reviews for its price range. A picture would be great of course, is it boxed and manualed?

I won't offer it to you till I have a picture with my name on it, etc as per classified rules. Unfortunately some people on these forums are more than happy to screw over a buyer, and I wouldn't take an item that wasn't photographed with their name on it, so I won't sell it until I do that as well.

The marker has a custom folding stock and a custom 21" barrel (will check these details myself, I'm not too fond of flogging you "custom" equipment on it if he's mistaken!!). Will get photos tomorrow, but I have been requested to asked to request £75 though (sorry!) as he feels it is worth a bit more due to the customizations on it, + it's been well kept. He's pretty sure he has the box and manual. Will confirm everything tomorrow when I go to get pictures and will get back to you.

Edit: Tank turns out to be co2. Scrap that. He has standard goggles but considering you can get Events for £30 that's pointless, going to have a look at his hopper. Might be worth throwing in there for a little more. Will get back to you on that though.

Not sure if they're sold yet: Events for £30, Reloader B2: http://www.p8ntballer-forums.com/vb/showthread.php?142648-Rotor-E-Vents-Reloader-B2-Angel-Armour

http://www.p8ntballer-forums.com/vb/showthread.php?144211-empire-prophecy-Dye-meta-gloves Or that hopper if you're quick. Hopefully he'll go for £50 :)
