All the time we have an administrative definition of a sport, and a dictionary definition of a sport singing different tunes then we are gonna have confusion; every single debate on the subject is therefore both academic and pointless.

You can't apply dictionary definitions to everything in life. Common sense clearly shows paintball to be a sport as most people would think of a sport - a form of excercise. 100m sprint is a sport. Paintball at a competitive level involves a huge amount of running and sprinting. In simple terms; paintball involves running and is competitive therefore by any logic and real world sense it is a sport. I don't really care if people say it is not a sport as most of these people (e.g Joe puplic) will never have played serious paintball and I know through experience that paintball is a sport - fact.
So are you saying that if you went out and played a game of football but could not afford a ball, such as some children in third world countries, and so used a tin can instead, due to your not using a regulation 'internationally accepted' ball what you are doing is not a sport?!
Rugby as 2 set of rules, with professional leagues in both.
Hell, the first 'official' 'football' match had no clear rules, infact one team played close what we know as football and the other played close to what we know as rugby. The point being that all sports start off with very many formats and rules. Got to bare in mind that tournament paintball has been around about 10 years, give it time
