I loved this type of system. Play-offs make you have a whole different effect of the feeling of wanting to be top.

Firstly. I think Rich is a sound guy.
I'm not attacking him, and apologies if it comes across that way.
What I am flaming however is the scoring system, and the way some of the games were started.
The refs were really quiet and some of the time the 10 second call could not be heard.

Could this be looked at please for future events?

I guess it just peeves me off knowing that some teams ripped in the afternoon winning all their games but still look like they have done poorly.
I dunno, maybe I'm dense or something, haha.

I understand that the most consistant team wins overall.
Maybe the scoring system is a good one. I don't know, some folk agree and others disagree.

I just know that some teams worked their a$$es off and the result should have been better.

In the afternoon (The last 4 games) you are playing teams that you have been seeded against.....teams who are having the same day as you be it good or bad.

If you got a tough draw and struggled through your first 4 games or if your just not on it then the next 4 games you will play the teams who are having the same type of day you are.

The most important games are the first 4; you need to get as many good results as possible. This will then place you into a higher group for the next four games giving you a maximum and minimum amount of points to play for.

Hope that makes sense.......

Maybe I have it wrong then but I am sure it works like this:

1) Groups are/were drawn at random. These are the "prelims".

2) Your first 4 games you are playing to finish 1st to 5th place. You don't get any points at all for these results...you are playing for position.

3) After the first four games the "finals" are drawn.

What happens is all the teams that finish 1st in the prelim tables are put into Group A and battle for 100 to 80 points.

All the teams that finish 2nd in the prelim tables are put into Group B and battle for 76 to 60 points.

All the teams that finish 3rd are put together, all the teams that finish 4th are put together and all the teams that finish 5th are put together.

The prelims are there to fight to get into the highest group you can.

The finals are when you start fighting for points.

Im sure I will be told if I have the wrong end of the stick.

Think of it as a bonus for winning your prelim group, it seems a fair system to use with a large div and keeps the variety so it doesnt get stale.

After this round the groups will again be snake seeded with the top 5 teams as No 1 seeds across the 5 prelim groups. All should or will be become apparent as the season roll's on and make it a little more interesting.

As for the round 1 scores well...The scores are as they were on the signed score sheets so all is done, finalised etc.
Any querries should have been taken on the day, as it is to late to resolve any now. I have checked through and i cannot see any issues so teams are where they are.

As for the continual issue of not understanding how things are worked out i have no problem with questions, querries or suggestions or constructive critiscm, but if its from people who couldnt/didnt bother reading the previous posts, event booklets etc then please dont be offended when my tone is less than happy or tolerant.

For those still not happy from looking at how it works, you need to think of the big picture. This system works around 'Season Standings' rather than individual events.

The Firm lost one Prelim, and we were unable from that point to advance past 4th position despite winning the rest of our games. However, there will most likely be a point in time where the current top 3 scoring teams (Disruption, Nexus, Shock for example) will be in the same division, this will then dramatically change overall season position for one or more.

I like it.

Xball is all about consistency, multiple points take 'luck' out of the equation, the best team wins.

With this points system, consistency wins.

i think the confusion was caused by so many teams being on the same points at the end of prelims
our group had 3 teams on 3 wins 1 lose and it was only body count that separated the teams
but you had teams in that group that had better body counts than other groups yet they were placed in a higher group, due to it being the first from each group plays each other 2nd,3rd etc
has for the top 5 being seeded next round,i don,t think it works if the groups are going to be changed in the afternoon as they may get a favourable group and a team that as come lower down the rankings due to a tight group get a unfavourable ranking
maybe the next round should be 1-5,6-10,11-15 etc
maybe i,m wrong but to see a team that was in your group in the morning be 40 ranking points above you and you stuffed them off the park don,t look good mate:)

We shoot each other for fun, IQ should not be an issue. Paint goes in top comes out front quickly, sometimes hits someone else, go home with big smile.

Thanks for the clearing up, as one of those who couldn't be bothered to read anything beforehand it makes more sense now.
