Following a random draw tonight witnessed by Chris Edwards, Nick Oakley, Nick Moore, Gemma Harris and me we have the following 3 prelim groups.

Group A
Disruption
Entity
Warped

Group B
Firm
Relentless
Nexus

Group C
SoManc
Tigers
Shock

As expected it has provided some tough battles and that is just the prelim draw.
Still, there are no easy games in the Elite League.

Winner of each prelim group goes into the 1-3 finals group, 2nd in each group battles for 4-6th place and then 3rd plays for 7-9th spots.

Also, due to it being 9 in a group we have decided for round 2 onwards the groups will be picked as follows:
Group A, 1st, 4th and 7th
Group B, 2nd, 5th and 8th
Group C, 3rd, 6th and 9th.

We feel this way creates the best balance of the groups as opposed to the Millennium snake seeding system which would create very unbalanced groups.

Strange way to do group for next round.
The 1st group is in theorie a harder one ... (1 should be better than 2 and 3; 4 better than 5 and 6, and 7 better than 8 and 9 (in theory)).
Is this case it might be better to finish 6 than 4 or 5 as you have in theory an easier group in which you can finish 1st.

With a group of 9 it is awkward.

But, if we use the traditional snake seeding model it is a very unbalnced model unless we have a group of 12, 16 etc.

The way we have stated above gives a better balance, plus with the teams being assigned ranking points for final positions it doenst really benefit you finishing 6th does it.

All ill say is we have considered every angle and outcome , as we do with all our ideas and we believe this is the best way forward.

I think the competition in the league is far too close for this to matter. '1' may be better than '2' and '3' at round 1, but round 2 could easily be another story
