Some companies do enjoy a return on their sponsorship investment but these can be counted on one hand, a hand that's lost most of its fingers in a meat slicing accident that is ... I'd like to think Dye got their money's worth with the original Nexus because of the sheer amount of exposure they got in PGi; Also Dynasty were a fantastic team to get around because of their fame and fortune, they are the most winningest team of all time, well, nearly anyway, Aftershock won 6 world cups and I'm not sure they managed to do that.. but they sure did mop up the NPPL events and events elsewhere in the world ...
The only other team that can seriously suggest they paid back their sponsors are the Russian Legion .. and not so much because of world sales of products but because of their Russian sales of products.
Sergey, the guy who owned and bankrolled the Russian Legion also owned 50% of the Russian paintball trade, sounds a bit incestuous I know and that's because it was, but the Legion, Sergey, and their sponsors all made money.

The Russian Legion's influence of the Russian market is huge ..... everything they used, Russkies wanted, and so I'd include them for sure but now I start scratching and I honestly cannot think of another team that would be seen as a commercial viability for sponsorship ... the numbers just don't crunch I'm afraid even though many teams will cry 'foul' and tell me I am wrong ... but this cry has more to do with their self-interest than the truth of the matter.

One thing I can't abide is when a team leaves one sponsor for another and immediately start bad mouthing the company they left, Forgetting that it's their support that got them there. It's shabby and done far to often.

Even though you may say its not much of a pay back, London Tigers and London Relentless have always helped our sponsors by putting up & taking down Tents at events,or Changing the field around for Yorkie at Bricketwood, and with anything else that we can help with. Also we always act with professionalism and have respect for eveyone., and I know that our sponsors like that!!!

I know we have changed sponsors this year, and we and enjoyed our Time with DYE/Proto, but I have been speaking with Jon Payne fo a few years now about Jon helping me out in some way, so I did speak with him and put it to the Team first for a vote, and we all agreed to join the Kartel Prime Family!!!! So the Team did chose what they wanted do do and I think thats the best way, not just me saying will are going to do this.

This is the Tigers 25th Birthday today and we will continue to promote out sponsors in the best way we can both on and off the field

What about the sponsor leaving the team once it has served its purpose and made the breakthrough it wanted ?

Different scenario unless you mean the sponsor is calling the team.

Sponsorship pots are limited so it's natural for manufacturers to go for higher profile teams as ultimately it is like any other form of marketing. They are in business to make money.

Teams have the same right to seek a better deal but I've seen many go where the grass is greener only to come back again with cap in hand. if you've muddied the waters in between time it's all the more difficult.

I wouldn't leave planet eclipse if another company offered me the world.

that might not sit well with the rest of the team but they know its them or nothing, i have been offered a lot more so when we were running the NQ but always stayed true,

with other products its been different until a year ago we have used all different kinds of paint then john Payne offered us a great deal with paint so we took it but then last year he couldn't do the same because he had other "teams" to support so we parted which was a shame cause with out his support for the 2009 season and our first season in the MS i don't think we would of coped.

So we went to kee and they gave us a great deal so its all good.

Just paintball have always helped us at events so we felt it was time we gave some thing back by sticking their name on our 2011 tops.

With planet Eclipse you get more than a sponsor you get to be in a family, ledz is our dad with out him and Jules we wouldn't be a team.

I set up corrupted to sell eclipse products and custom gear to try and promote them as well but it never worked out but we did sell their products at events so we did OK.

I hope in some small way we have paid a little back to them with results and helping to spread the eclipse ethos to other teams and i hope this can continue till the day i finish ball.

I detest teams who do one from a company cause they don't get their own way it looks like you are doing a dirty on your misses.

I think it's safe to say that there's alot more to be gained from a sponsor than just free products or discounts.

There is the oppurtunity to develop relationships that will develop and create more benefits to a team in the long run. I mean if you stick by your sponsor and meet there expectations season after season why would they want to part from you and vise versa. Then as the 'loyalty' grows and relationship develops doesn't the benefit factor for either side sponsor and team.

I know for a fact along with Markie that I'd probably never stop using PE gear not only because the gear is awesome but the support I've had from the team there and people I've met along the way just makes me wanna stick with them.

looking through this thread guys,it looks to me that loyalty wins every time
you may gain a short term benefit but in the long run staying loyal reaps bigger benefits.
on a personal note my two supporters are Jon payne and bully they have given myself and team support in different ways than just kit
yes we get cheaper paint and cheaper kit,but the best support they give us is weekend work that pays for our balling:first:
