could it be something as simple as current sponsor dropping or lowering the package they offer,

hence the team go looking for a better deal, im only assuming here, but i doubt a sponsor will give a deal or package indefinitely

The nuts and bolts of it is loyalty is a 2 way street obv the sponsorship is there to serve a purpose but when your responsible from changing that from a non entity to making its breakthrough in the market only to be kicked in the teeth, then that says it all :tsk:

loyalty isnt something you just hand out.

Lucky for me and our Team we have always had great Support form our site at Battle Grounds in Aberdeen. these guys go above and beyond for us therefore we do the same for them.

our other sponsor are new to us we will work hard with them and hopefully give them enough to want to give us more again next year.

I can't even begin to suggest I have made any difference to any of my sponsors over the last year or so (playing as a scratch team doesn't help win much!), although I certainly support them in any way I can at every opportunity I get!

But when we were offered a place on a team at the end of last year (at last to be part of a regular squad/family again) we were prepared to decline the offer if we would have had to turn our backs on our sponsors.

As it turned out, Loki (a Planet sponsored team) spoke to Planet about our situation and they were generous enough to compromise and allow us to stay true to our main sponsor if we show loyalty to Planet by shooting their guns (which of course I have been shooting since Ledz's priceless gift of a one of a kind EGO to us as our wedding present in 2007 - talk about sponsorship!!).

So, maybe mine and Lump's situation is slightly different as there is only 2 of us, not a whole team, but I believe loyalty is definitely the way to go, it does get remembered....just my point of view..

And may I take this opportunity to thank all our sponsors, we are indebted to you and pledge our loyalty to you for as long as you want us and beyond!

I was fortunate enough to be completely kitted out in a deal a couple of years ago and i still maintain a loyalty to the sponsors, Though i failed personally to deliver my side of the deal originally (this is through health issues and not something i had any control over). Despite this the sponsor Has been incredible and still shows support.

I'm not sure what, if any return the "major sponsorship" packages a company would get in return? If you look at the bigger picture, there's not much return in a balling company actually sponsoring a team as there's not much coverage at all for them. Certainly the money would be better spent on marketing. I Have enjoyed large sponsorship in the past as a player and at the time I actually believed We were doing them the favour.. But looking back, I can't really see what benefit the companies ever got in return?? I know Ledz practically felt sorry for us and made us our own guns!! Planet were good to us and we were loyal in return, publicly giving back 10 guns at one award ceremony from another company in Amsterdam!!! However this all goes right out the window if there is some tax loss in it?? If there is, then I can't find it?!?

A good relationship between team and sponsor is essential and the team must believe in the product rather than represnting something because it's free!!
Loyalty is Everything, but it does have to go both ways!!

I am about to open myself up to a ton of hate here but...

sPONSERSHIP is really that.

Whichever company or companies are offering anything, be it free or discounted are doing so to help us, there is nothing in it for them. Sure when or if you win a tourney you stand up & thank them but nobody is listening...

Be grateful for what we receive guys & girls because there is no rule saying that you have to have a sponsor like in football. If everyone stands there with their hand out it will get up peoples noses.

As for tax deductions, there are much more beneficial ways for companies to invest their taxable income than giving it to their consumers for free......
