I got this text message from a mate of mine who's a bobby and someone he knows on the crime prevention squad sent him this, so it is true, take note peeps
the text follows....
"Forward onto anyone you know who has a mobile. If you get a call from anyone saying that they are a company engineer, or that they are checking your line and ask you to press #90 or #09 end this call without pressing any numbers. A fraud company is using a device that once you press #90 or #09, they can access your sim card and make calls at your expense.
forward message to as many people as you can.

It wouldn't be the first time a member of the law enforcement agencies is suckered in to passing on such viral warnings for non-existent scams.

I used to get them all time from colleges on my old work email account, a quick reply with a mass CC containing the relevant snopes.com link usually put paid yo it, it is a very useful resource. Forward the link to your 'mate' Tom!

P.S. my favourite recent viral message was this one http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/trivia/fivedays.asp so obviously a crock of ****e that I couldn't fathom how anybody would be so dim to fall for it!
