hi there im new to the world of paintball and i have been looking at youtube vids now i have a messed up knee so i think the best way for me is going to be "snipper" rout

but here i am lost what gun would be the best for me as i understand you can add after market parts later to upgrade your gun

now i have looked at Tippmann A5 but some say this is not a good one
so i need some help thank you

i know this question has most probably been asked 1000 times before but also i live in the uk west wales and there is no paintball store around me that i have found so i thought id take the time to research all my options

This is always an awkward answer to give as everyone has their own preferences. Personally in competition I shoot a GEO2 and can't fault it, I know that Planet have some nice eTek 3's with camo patterns now which is worth a look if you are looking at an all round marker that you can use in tournaments as well as scenario games. From a scenario point of view I shoot .50cal and I shoot one of our GI'50s purely for the ability of carrying more paint with me and use less gas.

However the best thing for you to do is find a local store near you where they have some stock of the various markers you're looking for and go down there and have a chat with them. You can then try some for size and find the one with the features that you want.

I see that you are looking at scenario side of the game so might I suggest one of these companies...

JUST Paintball
Warped Paintball
BZ paintball

Whatever marker you choose - welcome to paintball.

Don't know if this is qualifying as a rant but there are VERY FEW "woodsball" markers that should exist. this includes the likes of BT, Tipmann etc. in all honesty i'd go with a 2nd hand planet eclipse gun because you can abuse them for months on end and they just keep shooting. besides guns designed for tournaments shoot better, maintain easier and weigh less.

some of the proto markers are also very good and are quite a bit cheaper than planet (second hand) and they shoot just as well. you can now pick up second hand pmrs for bout the £100 mark and they're very nice

Don't underestimate the size and power of the milsim and woodsball market. There's a reason why the markers are around, and there's a reason why they continue to be made and adorned the way they are.

Sure, using a lighter and 'easier-to-use' tournament gun seem like a better choice to some, but that's not the appeal of milsim
;)

As for the OP's problem, I'd follow Spike's advice and just get your hands on as many markers as you can before making a choice. If you can't get to a shop, try going to a walkon nearby and ask to have a look at peoples markers. You can ask them why they chose what they did, and any faults etc. Most players are friendly and will let you have a shufty
:)

You're going to drop a fair amount on a marker by the end of it, and you want to make sure your dropped a fair amount on the right marker. There's only so much other people can tell you over the internet. What I will say is that tournament guns (Planet Eclipse, Dye, Proto, Empire/Invert etc) will be lighter than the average woodsball marker (BT, Tippmann, etc), so if lugging around a hefty weight is going to be a problem with your knee then they might be a wiser choice, but it's ultimately up to you.

If you want a setup that can shoot further distances than the others (all guns shoot the same distance, there's no such thing as a sniper setup in paintball), then an Apex barrel might be worth a look. It adds spin to a ball to keep it in the air over longer distances/shoot around corners. No experience myself, but I've heard good things and I'm sure someone who has one can pipe in
:)

Wow, long post.
