Having read this, it does grind my gears a bit. I have been buying and selling on hear for a few years and originally went Plat to get my feedback thread. I have always been genuine in what I have sold and when I buy. I have never had any problems and I know that theres probably 95% of users on here that have never had a problem. I do tend to only buy large expensive items form either Plat members or people I am aware off, but by the same token, some of the non-plats and newer members do need the opportunity to do trades and to get some sort of credit on here. The feedback i-trader thing I think is spot on and I do refer to this now and again.

I do think its a shame that sometimes the scammers do appear and think that they can get one over on another member. It does seem quite stupid that bearing in mind the Paintball community is quite a small one that these scam members cannot be traced by some way or means.

The outline of Johns idea is a good one, however I think a flaw would occur in that both a buyer and seller would not come up with any form of monies in a disagreement situation. I cant think of a decent idea for trading, what we have in place already seems to work for the most part.

One quick question, if I went online today and set up a new user account, I assume I dont need anything other than a name and email therefore this is a easy way that the scammers cant be traced - Could it be reset that people need to input names and addresses - I think I gave all this info when I set up my Plat account.

Anyway, mods keep up the good work, I do hope that I will never need to use you for a dodgy deal but if I do then thanks in advance.

I have traded on here for the past 7-8 year or so and never had issue with anyone. Luck maybe, or maybe like Lovetone you just get a feel for who to deal with.

The trend sadly seems that it is new members (join dates in current or last month) are either having issues buying, or causing issues selling for the most part.

Whether the buying part is down to not understanding what they are buying (ie fiddle with it, break it, then shout when something does not work!). Having an unrealistic expectation of what they are getting (ie a used marker will be factory immaculate).

Or when they are selling they have no personal reputation to uphold, and they don't play for established teams whos name also gets dragged into it when the case arises etc. The community is that small that the majority of people on the forum have seen each other kicking around tournaments albeit not to speak to...

Maybe putting a period of time on newly registered accounts, or having the ability to have a mod authorise an account to be able to put up a BST thread? This might limit 'Bob' joining the forum today for the sole purpose of posting something for sale?

The mods job is hard enough I think with some of the members at times. Most people who have problems flaunt the BST rules to there own ends then expect others to spoon feed them a solution when it goes wrong...

As a Mod I have to say some of the things I've seen are frankly ridiculous. New kids who buy something SECOND HAND expect to pay less than nothing and receive a gun in mint or new condition. Plus they want it shipped within 12 hours or they're on moaning that the thing they bought yesterday didn't arrive this morning. It really irritates me to see people on someones sales thread asking for mint guns only.

IF YOU WANT MINT PUT YOUR HAND IN YOUR F*CKING POCKETS AND BUY NEW FROM A SHOP.

I've only ever had one issue and it wasn't even on these boards, to be honest a little common sense and common decency goes a long long way.

Most of us Mods (except me) are good natured folks, and always willing to help a genuine case but where we feel someone is taking the pi$$ they'll find themselves banned very quickly indeed. None of us are in this for money, but if the site users want to pay us to act as middlemen then I'm sure it'll be considered. i know it's used on pbnation a lot and fairly successfully too.

You gonna pay tax an NI on that income :p

I think if you are going to have the option of being a middle man then you should have all the info on both parties.

I'm not sure whether it's a viable way to do this, but, why not have te classified section as a separate part of the forum here you have to log into it.

As part of the registration process you have to supply, your home address, mobile, house phone numbers, etc. Then a letter is posted to your address with an activation code for your "account"( to ensure you put in the correct address) and then that allows you to trade. If then the unthinkable happens and you get some A-hole trying to scam you, atleast as a mod you have the info you need to persue it further with the police etc. If it gets that far of course

To help stop too many people using the mods to mediate disputes perhaps it should be a Plats only service. Generally, from what I have seen most Plats are polite and literate.

Or perhaps a pay per dispute model, a payment from both parties is taken at the start of the dispute e.g. £5 each, then if one side is clearly in the wrong then their money is kept if the other side is clearly correct their money returned? If there is fault on both sides they split the charge. Although if it was a service you would be even less likely to have polite behaviour. Failure to pay at the beginning would result in a name and shame perhaps?

Or maybe you are only able to start a dispute once you have some form of track record e.g. a minimum trader level of 10. This would encourage the first few trades to dealt with really well, hopefully meaning that disputes will be much less likely to happen.

Not sure really just throwing a few ideas out to make life a bit easier for you guys.
That is a really good idea. I had a few issues with some sales and lucky my feedback and me being around for a while helped.

It turned out to be kids not liken things but i agree with the top post i like the idea

I remember that. You near got lynched by Bon and his merry followers, before you even saw the thread or had a chance to respond. Really wound me up that did. I remember thinking its like they labelled you a pedo, and started trying to convince everyone that you were when they only knew one side to the story. If I were RED back then, I would have helped you out more than I did.

I like the sentiment behind this post although the £5 thing could invite trouble and or make things complicated.

I gotta say, having seen what goes on on the red side, big shout has to go to Gassy, Lump and Robbo who do sterling work in the classifieds. Really above and beyond.
