I can agree with Markie's point.

I hear all this that the yanks are a different level of play then us british, well obviously this weekend showed that they are not am i right yes?

I also think that the UK ball of players in the events is going up quite quickly each event. Everytime i go down to trainning their is always a great vast amount of players who are very decent.

Also another point of Markie's that bringing the euro teams would act a bit more intrest because their are very good euro teams that you do not hear about unlike the "yanks", such as Camp Carnage,Amsterdam DUB and Amsterdam Sabotage.

I agree with the level of play is getting better so will the leagues therefore getting a better time fo play for your money.

The Firm squaring up against Amsterdam DUB? Better trade off paint gats for brass knuckles, batons and broken bottles then lol cos there'll be blood, and lots of it ;)

well robbo i hope u recommend these nobodys to some of the bigger teams to see if they can get a shot in the bigger teams :D
Chris, it ain't really my job to point anyone out mate. If teams have real aspirations to improve then they have to either train up their own squad or alternatively scout for new [and improved] blood to bolster their squad.

Either way requires someone who knows what they are doing and so let's just hope the improvements I have seen on the field are mirrored off the field by improvements in our country's coaching portfolio.
It would seem a crying shame, leastwise to me, if all this talent is going to waste only to fade into mediocrity .......

I heard the comments from the HK player (Justin Schwarz to be exact) that they had come all this way, only for us refs to f*ck them over

Oh my, now I've heard it all.

Historically, our sport has always seemed to spawn bad losers; we excel in that department for some reason and by far the worst are the pros, and there is a sub-section of pros that example the most acute from of self-delusion and those are the pros who think they are a cut above, these are the wannabee pros.

You'll hear pros like Ollie Lang, Greenspan and a whole raft of real pros all moan like bitches, they are past masters at it and it's all down to pride.
Losing is bad enough to bear but when you are at the top of your sport, it has an added barb waiting for you.
It is a measure of just how much of a man you are in your ability to deal with defeat and even though Ollie can moan like a bitch he isn't the worst by a long way.
Wannabee pros play host to that descriptive.
I think it's patently obvious which category Mrs Schwarz abides in.

And as for the enormous dollop of irony in an American coming over here and blaming refs for any subsequent defeat ... oh my..... I think he might take an afternoon off from his delusional outbursts and go talk to Magued Idris awhile and listen to his horror stories regarding ref mistreatment .. it would make your toes curl.

Team of the weekend for me personally was Birmingham Temper. These boys have only been playing X Ball for 2months or so, but fully deserved their win over our colonial visitors. In their short time together you can see just how far they have come and how much graft they've put in when it comes to training. Well done boys, and good luck for the future. Keep playing smart ball and who knows what you could achieve in the next 12 months
Agreed. Temper seemed to want that game so much, it would have been a shame if they had lost the overtime point. I overheard the HK guys saying they came up against a higher standard than they expected, so whoever played them, well done for leaving a lasting impression!

On that note, I think the refs did a great job in not bowing to the pressure that the yanks give when trying to get decisions their way. Obviously you have the UK refs who head over to the World Cup, but also the less experienced refs didn't take any sh** no matter who you were. I saw a couple of occassions where they were trying for it and could not believe it when they didn't get it their own way, I saw at least one time it was turned around against them but they deserve that sometimes for trying :D

Thanks Mikey, for recognising that the refs on the other fields didn't back down when they made their calls. Yeah it's nice when you get praise as a ref, but it's even better when you hear that refs on other fields are also getting praised due to doing it right and sticking by their guns (theoretically) when it comes to making the right call, no matter who it pisses off. From my perspective, I don't give a gnat's plums which team wins, so long as the right team wins. This is how it should be, and it's not difficult to see whenever a ref is doing a bad job or turning a blind eye. In turn this looks bad on the organisers........which by the time it gets to the forums, everybody knows about it,and everybody as a paying customer quite rightly has the right to speak up. Hats off again though to Rich and Mark, cos I know of refs who've been swapped fields to a totally different division for looking the other way, but it wasn't spotted by the players ;)

I must agree here too. I was very impressed with these guys and they are good guys to which makes a difference!!!! I did go up to these guys over the weekend and pass on my comments about how well they played.

so once again lads well done and keep up the good work!!

Twizz

WOW... on behalf of Birmingham Temper, THANK YOU for the kind words! :D
... and cheers Twizz for the comments on Sunday morning after losing out to your boys, it helped lift mine and boys heads up! :)

I aint mentioning any names, and Temper success was a team effort... but there were two HUGE individual performances over the weekend which might have left people asking 'why hasnt this lad been picked up by a Mill Div 1/SPL' team. These guys arent big headed and they probably don't even realise how fecking good they really are!!! They just train hard and battle for every single point whilst being nice, pleasant guys to hand around with!

There is talent out there.... its just waiting to be unleashed!

I think I've got an idea who they are, but I'll keep it to myself in case their playing shirts don't fit over their heads lol. Chrissy Atkins, left corner ref on the spectator side loved James Bath from Disruption. He was positively glowing with admiration for Bathy ;)
