Of course, and if you feel it improves your marker, then that has value in itself.
I just think its a bit arrogant to imagine that planet havent already tried different bolt designs.
I mean, the ego5 had orings on the bolt around the valve apeture. 5 years later there are no orings in that area.
Im inclined to think this change was brought about through engineering expertees and empirical testing rather than groping around with ideas that sound good when you imagine them in your mind.
My personal view would be the designers/engineers were building markers back in those years purely for speed/cycles per second (just as we all saw with the angels).
When sliding the 05 bolts in/out the breech, there was'nt much resistance if any, my assumption would be the extra orings were on there for helping smooth out the bolt action rather than seal the excess air.
Ego's have much lower operating pressure in todays design, having a huge difference of over 100psi flowing through the bolt. They can go through just under a case of paint on a full 68 bottle, there was no need to make the marker anymore efficient as it is now.
Having the extra orings for better seal, i can however see some possible problems occuring if players do not maintain there markers regularly. I suppose that is whats so good about the ego and its design, they were made to be less prone to problems. Go out and play, throw marker in kit bag end of day, it will still work well 6/12 months later without having to maintain it.
Ive worked on, serviced ego's that has been used week in/out, that havent had any maintenance for over a year, and they were still fully working, maybe a little inconsistant, but hardly anything to complain about.
NB:
Ive had a few PM's asking how much shipping i paid for the modded cure 3, and also settings.
(please note, i am just a customer trying out pootys modified bolt, i am in no way have any ties with what he does or his business)
The only settings i touch when dropping in the modified cure 3 was the LPR. (SL74)
With the stock bolt (cure 1) i normally have my LPR 1.5 turns in, with pootys cure 3, i had to turn the LPR back out 1 full turn, meaning LPR 0.5 turns in from flush.
Every marker is different, you will have to tune to how you like it.
The reason for adjusting the LPR was because the first 2/3 shots had a very low fps. You will notice when sliding the bolt back and forth in the breech, there is slightly more resistance(only slightly). Having the LPR too low can cause problems as the orings do act as seals, same effect you would get from a spoolie like a DM.
