Just joined the forum today and would like to say hi to all.

Had a good look around before deciding to join.

I have just been offered a Viewloader Orion paintball marker (Stock and used 3 times at home) still boxed for £20 + p&p.

Can anyone on the forum give me any clues as to whether this would be a good starter marker for a newbie? Or should I wait and save for a better one?

Thanks for any help/advice offered.

Hey mate, welcome to the forums!

Although that is a pretty good price for that marker, it's not really worth it. If you are serious about starting paintball properly, I would save up a bit more and get yourself a half decent electric marker.

But before all of that, make sure you have a decent pair of goggles. As really, these are the most important things on the field! They allow you to see well, and potentially save your life every time you play (I spose).

So, get yourself a decent mask, then start to save up for a better marker.

I agree with dans post in it's absolute entirety except all I'd add is, don't buy that marker. You will only regret it.

Thank you

Hi Dan

Thank you for the welcome and the advice about the marker.

I have only been to one paintball session (an absolute blast), the first lesson I learned from that day was, if I ever return, I will not be using a site mask again.

So I decided to invest in a Vforce grill mask (charcoal). I would have liked the i4 but that was a little out of my price range at the time of buying.

The marker we used on the day was the BT4 Combat, which I felt quite comfortable with, would it be worth buying one of these until I become more experienced?

Thank you for being so helpful.

The answer to that is really 'yes and no' but really, you may aswell just use a rental marker if you enjoyed using the BT4, and not waste y'no £40-£60 on one, for that price you could get yourself a Smart Parts Ion/Vibe, although these are at the bottom of the electric marker 'scale' they are still way way better than a BT4.

To be honest mate, it's up to you. But as PaintballWizard rightly said, there is no point in getting that Viewloader marker.

Cheers Guys

Thanks to all for info given so far.

I guess that I have to start saving a bit more and doing a little more research regarding the markers on sale.

Cheers guys :)
