What are the core differences between the older SFT model from the new NXT model. Are the barrel threads the same, are the parts interchangable like say the board, grip frame etc.
Frames are interchangeable (triggers are not)
Boards are the same but some SFT boards dont have the break-beam eye option for the NXT.
Bolt system is the same
The NXT feedneck uses different threads to the SFT, as does the barrel, SFT beinh shocker threaded, NXT is ION/Impy thread.
NXT uses ION regulator but this can drop onto an a SFT
I think thats about everything
cheers balf, I think you've covered all bases there. So they are very similar beasts, but the main problem would be the barrel/feedneck being shocker thread. I suppose finding these threads could be hard now.
Shocker thread barrels are pretty common. The feednecks are also common due to them being used on SP gats for ever, up until 2006 with the release of the NXT (excluding some of the 2K shockers that had no feedneck threads for some reason) they where used on some ICD guns too I believe.
nxt has he bolt in later models but are interchangable between the 2, what was stated about the threads is correct, nxt uses break beam eyes, sft has a one eye and a mirror, i loved both my sft and nxts, if you have a sft upgrade to nxt reg

Cheers for the info guys, I've seen some SFT bodies going really cheap and was wondering if I should get one and put parts from an NXT in, or just pay extra for an NXT body.
Depends which you like the look of really. If memory serves the NXT body is slightly heavier and thats pretty much the only difference, it really is down to looks when it comes to bodys. The best being the Hybrid SFT...not that i'm biased or anything, the GMAX is awesome but theres only 6 of those.
