Ok i live up in manchester and have been in and out of the sport since around 1993 and was a member of a pro team back when i was 17 (many many moons ago).

I kind of found, booze and girls, like u do and strayed away from this great sport for a good few years, till i was 20, then hooked up with a few old team mates and started working for a site in oldham, that shut down and that was pretty much the end for me as far as being involved with the sport goes.

Recently the mrs mentioned she and some collegues were thinking about going to play for a day, so naturally my ears pricked up and the usual nostalgia hit me and i thought hmm i wonder how things are going in the sport thesedays and began to look around for local sites that i could maybe start playing regular again at and maybe, get my ass back to tourny play (even though im 32 next month :( )

Now this is where i have kind of hit a stumbling block, alot of the sites dont seem to be run or cater much for the person that wants to come play every week anymore, so was wondering if anyone knew of any sites where your able just to turn up on a saturday morning and have a game with your own gear, or even, a site which has a team and has training once a week up in the manchester area.

Mostly im looking at the indoor sites simply because they are usually closer to the city and dont usually take alot of travelling since i dont drive >.<

Anyway if anyone has any suggestions, i would be happy to hear them.

cheers

Splat attack paintball, Manchester

hey m8ey. I have played at that site in chadderton, i think its mostly played by people who are just looking for a paintball day every now and again.

I work at splat attack indoor paintball in Dukinfield, we have just revamped the whole arena and we have league nights every second thursday or every month, and have people coming down with there own gear to play too. (The arena used to be called saddams bunker, arena 51 etc):)

So have a look here and see what you think :) http://www.splatattackmanchester.com :D

Is there any newb 'friendlier' nights/days in Manchester.?

I've never played tourney paintball, but I'm amassing the gear as we speak, I just need to find a place to get stuck in. Problem is, I'm not sure how much I'll learn from getting power raped over and over again....

thats a tough one since back in the day you could just turn up for a game on a saturday morning session where it would be a mix of regulars, with own gear and new rental players, all split equally which was great for the new players looking to get into the sport because you would learn tons playing along side the experinced guys in your team aswell as playing against other players at the same level as your own.
this simply isn't how it works anymore at most sites.

the way it seems to work at sites today is you cant just turn up for a game and must book in advance.

if you have your own gear you must be to good so you must use the site rental gear, therefore you can only play on our walk on day once a century or come to training nights and play with the pro's if you wish to use that shiney new gun you just spent the last two months wages on to show off to your mates.

the sites these days seem to have forgotten that alot of people just want to play twice a month or more, at the local site, with thier own gear and are not necessarily interested in joining a team but just want to play for fun.

so there is a dilema heh.

You'll be fine, its the best way to learn. Seems sucky, but something will eventually click, and you'll get that sweet feeling you get when you cyclops some dude, and he didnt even know where it came from :D

From that point on, you will be hooked!
