I'm planning to go to Mayhem's world at war in august and i'm trying to be all sorted in time to get an early bird ticket.

So i've found the best way for me to be in time for the game is to camp but I have no idea about it. Can anyone who did it last year give any advice, should a get a lock for the tent and leave it out till the end of sunday, will there be a locker on sun and i'm guessing its just find a spot and setting up their. I'm planning to get everything in a big hiking bag hopping it'll go somewere out the way during the game. I'm most likely taking 2+hour train ride though I guessing try to find a lift would be a lot better.

Can anyone give some tips for a guy going to his first big game?

I cannot advise on camping at Mayhem and whether there will be lockers, but I high advise to not lock your tent. This is a big advert for anyone passing the tent.
Locks on tents are totally ineffective, they show that there must be something to steal. All the individual has to do is poke a knife into the tent, and can run it alog beside the lock and zip, if they are csaually observed this can look and sound just like someone opening a tent normally.

If you are going to padlock something then lock your gearbags zips. A theif then has to decide to take your whole bag and does not have the opportunistic choice to grab the first shiny thing when opening it.

Don't leave valuables in unattended tents. Find somewhere secure or keep them with you. We had a spate of thefts from tents at bike rallies a few years back. Some were robbed during the night while people were sleeping in them! A gang of these scum were caught red handed, and got the crap kicked out of them. Suffice to say they weren't part of the biking community - just chavs looking for easy money.

cant comment about Mayhem but whenever ive ever camped you park with your tent so you can just leave all your kit in the car
