Hi, i was wondering. Whats the situation with taking paintball markers on planes? Obviously not in your hand luggage but like packing it away in the suitcasess and keeping it in the hold or whatever.
Baisicly, i am visiting the US in a months time and i am thinking of getting a new marker while im out there, scince i may be able to save some money due to the exchange rate. However i dont want to spend several hundred pounds (or dollars) on a gun that will get confiscated or nicked by customs on the way back.
I was just wondering what the chances of me actually getting the gun back are, and if it is worth doing?
Thanks

It would be best to contact your airline or travel agent about it. You can take your marker on the plane but what you do and how you do it depends on were your going and whos taking you.

You wont have any problems on the American side of the journey.
All they are interested in is air bottles. As you cant travel with a sealed pressure vessel.

As soon as you say you dont have an air bottle, just a paintball gun, they will be satisfied.

On the UK side its more of a gamble. They may try and sting you with import duty. Or customs might want proof the gun is legal in the UK (which it is).
Its unlikely that they would end up taking it it off you though.

Thanks for the replys. Just 1 more thing. Mclovin101 mentioned he just made sure he kept the necessary paper work. What paperwork are you talking about. Do you mean actually for the marker or like international pasport papers?
