Hi Tommikka
Thanks for the links. To be perfectly honest I don't know what scene I am after (sorry to be difficult).
The stuff in the woods is good, but equally I have enjoyed the other areas these places have on offer with sheds and all that sort of stuff (or is that the same thing??)
Good to know of places where I can use my kit against normal punters as it gives me the chance to take some mates and shoot them (must be an incentive to shoot better!)
I think at the moment with shall we say "keen-ness" at a high I'm up for all of it locally and then when (if) I find my feet then I may follow a certain sort I guess.
I do like the sound of indoors, it'd be like the old days of playing quasar!
There are generally two styles of sites to play at:
Woods - Which encompasses a few styles, and most sites will be a mixture of woods, fairly open ground, little villages etc (Which you will find at most punter/stag do type sites)
Speedball / inflatables:
As shown in the video above the field will be open and symetrical allowing for defined fast games. This tends to be for those more energetic then me. There will tend to be a style of speedball field at woods sites which may be inflatables or just pallet barricades etc.
Punter play is the most expensive for paint as this is how sites make their money. But if this is what is available then you can manage your day against your budget.
Walkons can either be a dedicated day usually at a reduced entry rate /discounted paint price (Regular walkons to a site are repeat customers and can need less marshalling and be less problematic) or the site allowing own gunners to play as walkons among the punters. Walkons mixing with punters may get cheaper rates depending on the site.
I know little of tournament style play but you would expect to fire a lot more paint around the inflatables
Note the majority of walkon players will be welcoming to new players (But some just see new players as fresh blood to shoot at), either way a dedicated walkon game will tend to be much more intense then punter play.
My preferred format is scenario play which will tend to be an annual event at the host site (see the calendars on most forums for games) There will be a basic story or theme and you can go deep into the storyline or just go for a good shoot out. These can vary from a limited number of people at games such as 'Children of the corn' or a major event such as the UKs biggest game North v South with over 1600 players.
A good overview can be seen in BraNewbs photography -

Scenario venues are mostly the standard sites but run in a different format and opening the entire site for the days play, but also have venues out of the norm, e.g. North v South has been in the Armys Sennybridge training camp for the last 2 years, Children of the corn is around and inside a cornfield, there is an underground ex RAF bunker just outside Exeter which is awesome. (With both inside and outside play)
The indoor place at Oblivion has 7 themed rooms (London underground, Aztec & Egyption, Stargate, 2 New Yorks, Prison riot, ) and 2 speedball rooms. These rooms allow it to get up close & personal

Saturday will have normal punters plus we will be doing our own thing with some pistol & limited paint play. If you are about you can call Oblivion to book in as a punter but say on the phone you have met one of the Delta guys on the forums. You can play with punters or mix in with us. We will be rather obvious to spot.
(You will pay punter prices for the day but we intend on a good few games shooting little paint)
