What do I need to shoot an EGO 05?

Also a hopper. What hopper would you recommend?

I read something about a gas bottle. That confuses me a bit. What kind of bottle is needed? Do I need to buy something to connect the bottle to the marker? How often do I need to recharge the marker with the bottle?

When the bottle is spent... Can I recharge it? Is it expensive? How long does it last?

In the walk-ons... Do they recharge the bottle or directly the marker?

Do I need anything else?

You will need a decent electric hopper, and air tank which takes compressed air not C02.
You can get cheap steel air tanks which are 3000psi, and fibre wrapped tanks which cost slightly more and are 4500 psi and are lighter than the steelie tanks.

Most walk on sites will fill your tank up for you, and depending on what tank you have you may be able to fire 600+ balls

Ok mate lets talk about bottles.

To shoot you require a bottle connected to your marker. After every shot, it refills the marker with air from the bottle. At walkons, they will fill it for you or have facilities for you to. The cost of filling it is usually covered in your entrance fee. The bottle connects to the ASA which will be on the marker (unless it has been taken off for some reason).
A 4.5k (4500 psi) bottle holds more air than a 3k (3000 psi) bottle however, not everywhere have the facilities to fill it.

Pretty much every hopper fits in every marker.

Steel tanks are cheap,fibres are better and you will upgrade to one if you play for any amount of time.
A 3,000 psi bottle should get you in excess of 1hopper and 4 pots with an '05,most walk-0n sites only fill to 3,000 anyway.
Hoppers will fit most markers because most markers have adjustable feednecks.
Buy the best you can and then you'll only buy once.
Hoppers to buy must be the rotor or prophecy (£90+),but very good "unfashionable" ones are really cheap now(£40ish) reloaders,vlocity's.
You can always ask b4 you buy and you are advised too,if it's crap you will be told......even if you have to P.M people...
Search the wanted sections for bargains or advertise in the wanteds.
Keep an eye out for '05 upgrades..gotta love the '05.....

I'm presuming from your post you have an Ego5 already?
It can shoot fast, so needs a hopper that will forcibly feed paint into it, rather than relying on gravity to do the job. Basic choice is between either a Halo or Reloader B (£30-40 secondhand) or a Dye Rotor (£80ish secondhand. Both will do the job, but the Rotor will be more hassle free.
The bottle is to store the compressed air that fires your gun. This is not stored in the marker, it is stored in the bottle and feeds into the marker as you fire. Your gun will come with a threaded port to screw the bottle into, known as an ASA. You can get bottle designed for CO2, but the low temp of this will destroy the inside of your gun. Your choice is between either a steel bottle holding 3000 Pounds Per Square Inch (PSI) or a fibre wrapped bottle holding 4500psi. This is the pressure, and thus the quantity, or air that can be held in the bottle. A fibre wrapped bottle will hold more air, be lighter and therefore allow you to shoot more for less effort. It will, however, cost a lot more (£80 up secondhand) than a steel bottle (£30 up secondhand).

You need to budget for a test on air bottles every 5 years, and you can't legally fill a bottle unless it's in test. Make sure you ask seller the date of test certificate, because re-testing costs around £25-35 plus postage. As Tiffer said many w/o sites only fill to 3000psi, so there's no point paying extra for 4.5K bottles.

Older hoppers like Vlocity or Empire Reloader/Halo's feed fine - even Eggs if you are on a tight budget. Get a a few sets of rechargeable 9V batteries and a wall charger. Will save a fortune on Alkaline batteries in gun and hopper - leaving more money for other stuff. Spend any spare cash on fog free goggles and spare lenses, as this will help your game more than anything else. If you can't see - you can't shoot.

I shot a well used 2nd hand Ego for 18 months. It never missed a beat and possibly the most reliable (and boring) gun I've ever shot. Although a great marker an 05 Ego is a bit long in the tooth, and some spares are next to impossible to find. Make sure whatever you buy has a good history, and preferably recently serviced to a good standard.
