Gear Questions for newbie

Thank you for the prompt response!

Searching at the net I have found out that BT's and Tippman's are the most "famous" at the web (at list many sites are selling them and one can easily find them at the web).

You are right, I don't want to invest in super-high quality equipment, besides the business is new. If it goes well, my first thing to do is to get a much better gear!

I will check out the above brands and see. Do they provide full-documentation so that I can easily replace damaged parts if needed?

Another question. When you say "scenario" you mean a "more-realistic-concept" in the field? (in this case we go for milsims) and speedball markers as in tournaments ?

I like the idea of the more-realistic-look battles but again, I want the players to be fully flexible in their movements (I really worry about the remote hose that mislims have, how easy is to move in the field).

Thank you,
George

To be honest, with paintball, the more you pay, the better quality.

At sites and commercial businesses where you pay to rent equipment, the equipment will be of bad and very cheap quality. So it all depends on how much the owner wants to pay to start up. (bear in mind the punters aren't going to notice the quality as they have nothing to compare it against).

So, from the owners point of view, they want to look for stuff that is easy to maintain and fix, and is rather cheap. Best markers to look for in that area are inferno markers, Bt's (like the ones in the package xdansomee pointed out) or tippmanns.
Goggle wise, JT do alot of good site goggles and most sites use JT's.
Hopper wise, a site owner will just want to use a cheap grav-fed hopper.

If you wanted to go for full on good quality stuff, you'll end up paying maybe £500 per setup. Whereas you could get setups for as little as £100.
The problem with the setup xdansomee has posted is that theres more than just that to setting up a site. You need chronographs, nettings, stuff for marshalls, land, etc. etc, the list goes on.

Oh and 'so, milsim are only good for simulating the real thing, but they are not as enjoyable as the standard paintball guns, is that what you mean?' No thats not what he means. Paintball is just as enjoyable no matter how good the gear is (unless you just plain suck :p) but £250 spent on scenario style markers would roughly equal £150 in sup'air/speedball kind of markers. Ie, speedball markers will have better performance but scenario markers will look cool.

Oufff the more I see ... the more I get stuck!

Ok, I am looking at the full-gear packages that are listed at http://www.store.justpaintball.co.uk/marker-gun-packages?limit=all&order=price&dir=desc&mode=list

Basically I am into the budget of £100 to £150. Could you please help me in choosing, at the least the marker.. for now? Can you place in order the following markers, starting from your favorite one?

H18 Eros
Bravo One Tactical marker
VL Triad
Pirhana GTI
BT4 Combat

(I have a guess that BT4 is the answer... but really, is it?)

Steer clear of the Pirahana, Eros and Triad. For £100, there are far superior alternatives. The "for sale" subforum should have something that may catch your eye.

Look out for cheap Proto SLGs or WGP MG-7 Pro. Either marker would destroy the afore-mentioned three.

If i had to single out which one was the better choice out of the SLG and MG-7 Pro, I'd go with the SLG due to great customer service, ease of maintenance (bolt out the back design), and aesthetic qualities.

Thank you!

Hey, are the Tippman 98 and BT4 the dominant for the budget I am looking for? I have found in google that they are the Mercedes and BMW ... or Pepsi and Coca Cola!

Is that comparison correct? Would you involve any other markers for that price? Also I didn't know that one can easily 'convert' those markers into more realistic-look (milsim's) but attaching various parts on it ... which is good!

thanks,
George

For a paintball site, the Tippmann 98 and BT-4 Combat cannot be beaten. They are simply the best site markers out there. I think that the comparisons you have posted up are totally accurate.

Sorry if this has been written below, but they are both amazingly durable markers... You could throw one off of a multi-story car park and it would be fine. You could go swimming with one and it would still work. (Although, both of the prior are not recommended :p).

EDIT: If you can, it would be better to buy all 25-30 set-ups at once... Also, new would be better really, as you are covered by warrenty etc.

Ok im new to the sport as well so please dont take my word as gospal but having said that i would like to give my 2 cents.

First id realy think hard about starting a paintball site, there is alot more to it than it seems you have given thought to. So ill start by saying i think you should take the time to read a few books, i know there are a few good books out there for people just like you wanting to start a site and any number of these books would help (cant remember titles but im sure some of the other members will be more than willing to recomend some to you).

So go and read a book, it will help you understand what you need to do and put it into perspective for you.

Err... thanks for your 2 cents.

The site that I am thinking of setting up is not in UK, but in Cyprus, where the paintball market is still poor...

thank you though, nice tip :)
