I just got back from attending John Sosta's Formula Five event held in the grounds of his house just outside Colchester.
I am generally quite skeptical regarding radical new formats and I have to say, this is radical because it completely changes the emphasis of our game.

The principle is quite simple and the way it rolls out is kinda interesting but so you guys can get a handle on this new format, I took along my trusty video camera and filmed it being played [somewhat shakily] and interviewed John Sosta as well as interviewing Sean Wade of the Redskins to get a player's perspective.
As soon as I have got the film edited and made sure I don't look like a Muppet, I will post it up in the news section.
Keep your eyes peeled and I'll post it up as soon as I can .....

Will be interested to see what you come up with. I was sufficiently intrigued I checked out their website and the game appears to have a lot going for it although I can imagine a few problems as well including the "gun rules." :)

PS--Loki, for future reference "had a cracking good time, thanx to everyone involved" does not constitute a useful review. ;)

Baca hi! It is good, and first thought was, would love to see what two top US teams would do if presented with it :)

Cheat like buggery probably ;)

I blogged my thoughts on F5 after the March event which some may have seen already.

My opinion hasn't changed following this round - it just needs to be shifted to a proper venue to sort out the logistical side (toilets, chronos, catering etc) and attract a larger number of teams. Worth noting that the format is still evolving, with changes made as teams identify flaws or controversial areas. Examples are: sideline coaching now banned (thank god!), with only a single coach permitted at the rear of the field and no shouting from deadbox, radio comms not allowed etc.

Pete.....of all the people to interview, you choose Wadey? Surprised he found time for you in between telling everyone how awesome and handsome he is :D

Seems to be an event where having an efficent marker could really make a difference.

i think me and lump discussed this a bit as we sat around waiting to play, i was getting about 4 pods and a hopper out of my st kitted geo off of a 3 k fill, but i think i only shot that much in a couple of "turns" wereas he obviosuly got more out of his victory, to be honest i dont think it makes to much of a difference as people were gettting shot out pretty quickly anyway, the overriding thing was to get that buzzer if they had it, or lock down and try and defend your buzzer not by shooting loads of paint, as the fields so big it was very easy to lose 5 players so it could come from any direction, not once did i just get to a bunker and shot a lane constantly

hope that helps slightly
