In order of importance:-

1. Money. Lots of it.
2. A consistent roster.
3. Heart.
4. A good coach.

Let me know if you want me to expand on the above points.

I think you need to define success ?

I have played for teams who have won trophys ,did we suceed ?

I played for a team that struggled to win more than one game per event for 3 or 4 events but we had a great team spirit and we loved every minute on and off the field, did we succeed ?

I have played for a team that could finish in the top 4 of the masters div 1 when Kellys and northern heroes played the masters but then again we also got ourselves relegated to div 3 in the same season we blew so hot and cold. But I was playing with 5 of the best blokes/mates a man could have and have never enjoyed paintball more than that season so is that success ?

Money is good but not a must
a consistant roster is important but not essential
Heart can mean allsorts
Never used a coach and I think it takes away from the game.

Gassy, A coach is a someone who tells you why you suck and what you should be doing...Baca Loco is a true paintball coach. This has nothing to do with coaching in the way you meant it.

Think having a dedicated Coach who does not play with/for the team is essential to get the most out of training.

I believe a team that trains once a month with a dedicated coach will get more out of training than a team that trains every weekend.
