I can't stand reading stuff like this. I can think of at least 5 ways to get them off the roof that don't involve feedin them.

While i'm in agreement that it was the completely wrong tactic to feed them, the reality is that the fine they'll receive will be a hell of a lot more than the £20 the police spent on food. so it's not going to actually be money lost in that sense.
