XBall penalties...someone explain this

Here are two instances of penalties given out at The World Cup in XBall.

1. Russian Legion Vs Strange
Legion guy plays on, gets 5-minute team penalty, Russians spend next 5 minutes with four players.

2. Oakland Vs Philly
An Oakland guy wipes, gets a 10-minute personal penalty, but Oakland can still field 5 players.

Now either of these penalties is fine on its own, but they are obviously not consistent with each other, so my question is:

Is this correct according to XBall rules, or did the refs make an error/spectators see it wrong?

Wadidiz? Raehl? Bwillie?

Just looked at the NXL rules - now I'm not too good at all this stuff, but it reads to me like playing on = your team plays short handed for 5 mins, wiping = you get to continue fielding 5 players for the duration of the individual penalty.

In which case, the above situation is correct. In which case, the rules feel that playing on is a harsher violation than wiping.

It's the penalty system of the NHL.

The penalties in X-Ball are an exact copy of the penalties in hockey. The calls in both the Strange vs. RL, and Philly A's vs. Oakland are correct.

As it applies to X-Ball, yes, it does constitute playing on, and since you can't eliminate a player who has already been eliminated, another player should have been pulled to begin serving the penalty. So it's like a 1-4-1, sorta. It does seem kinda light when you consider that each game only lasts about two minutes.

When you consider playing on, you can determine it to be a minor, double minor, or a major. Wiping should be a 10 minute misconduct and a game misconduct, no questions. Just hope it wasn't your star player doing it.

To clarify slightly--
RL received 5 minute version of penaly because hit was obvious--on his goggles--instead of typical 2 minute variety.

Assassins were actually assessed a 10 minute and 5 minute and on the 10 minute were down the one player. The confusion in the crowd was based on two penalties appearing on the scoreboard. The explanation was the 5 minute was the personnel penalty that kept the actual offending player sidelined but otherwise Assassins played with 4 guys.

The Oakland penalty was incorrect, assuming the 10-minute penalty was for wiping. Wiping is a 10 minute misconduct penalty, which is exactly like a 5-minute penalty except that it's 10 minutes long.

MATCH misconduct penalties result in suspension of the player, but do not, by themselves, cause a team to play short-handed.

Caveat here is the Oakland-Philly game was obviously NXL-reffed, and those guys know what they're doing. Its most likely the version of the rules I'm looking at is not current (from the PSP site) or what you think happened isn't what happened. Not to say it's impossible the NXL refs screwed up, just not the most likely alternative.
